Use Tubi all the time for older docs, the ads are climbing in number but nothing like Pluto, Plex also has some free TV options if you have it installed
 

In a sense they have all gone "premium" tiers.. cheap or free for ads, pay money for no ads.  Can't speak to Apple+ TV or Crave, but certainly Prime and Netflix.

I have HD on the Sangean at home, couple of seconds max before HD kicks in.

Another thing, unless you are close to the TV towers in the US, the drop in power will impact many Canadians.  I can get the 3.0 channels out of Buffalo.. barely.  Any tropo, low clouds and bee farts and they vanish.  For me at least

NextGen = ATSC 3.  Won't happen here.  I have one TV that has the needed tuner and it's a Sony so it will decrypt the signal if I set the region to USA.  Problem is, trying to get the signals from Grand Island can be difficult as they are more directional and broadcast less power.  A little tropo and the antenna loses them all.  I found the Buffalo Fox station had some interactive things at one point.. weather, news headlines, but the picture wasn't really that much better so I went back to the regular HD channels... says someone who thought getting the new TVO on an old B&W in London was a huge thing!!  3 channels... luxury!!!

I watch some of the subcarrier channels, throw on an old western or comedy show now and then 51.3 and 51.4 I think?  49.3 Comet is sometimes good for an old Sci-Fi show.. 49.3

Yeah.. it's all worked out soooooo well south of the border.
 

I actually went to visit the place 5-6 years ago?  Google maps got me close but couldn't pinpoint the location at the time.  I found that amusing!

I will check it out, enjoyed her character on Death in Paradise.
