I have never found much of interest to me on Netflix that would prompt me to purchase a subscription. Their price increases will have zero effect on me.

They put their prices too high.

This is not just a Canadian price increase. This is a U.S., Canada, Portugal and Argentina increase. More like thank you WWE. But nice try to pin it on a Canadian Bill

It's the big bump in subscribers. They know pretty much exactly how many customers each price increase will cost them and they now have a little more leeway.

Netflix is like crack to TV addicts. They'll find the money for their fix one way or another. Netflix knows it.

Precisely. By doing that now, they get to report:
-Increased (net) subscribers
-Increased revenue per subscriber
-Increased revenue all-around
