Tuned into Breakfast Television this morning and noticed the co-hosts were absent with Devo Brown filling in for both absentees.
At 8:30am EST Devo Brown announced Sid Seixeiro and Meredith Shaw are no longer with BT, adding more excitement to come and wishing them the best.

First Tracy Moore and Cheryl Hickey last month and now this. What does Rogers have planned for its once ratings-leading morning show? You don't get rid of that many people without some kind of makeover plan in mind.
Is CP24's early AM show really eating their "Breakfast?"

My guess is Pooja and Gurdeep moving to BT and Rick Campanelli taking over the morning spot at CHFI. Or Rick becoming one of the co-hosts at BT. Possible stretch in my assumption that Dina also makes a return.

I think Rogers Media is in a bit of a spot these days as they totally screwed their poaching of HGTV and Food Network from Corus. They assumed that these channels would keep their spots on cable etc. but that wasn’t the case. The only place you can watch these channels is on Rogers Ignite and one other small market cable company, somewhere.
As a result, they are not getting the ad revenue projected, or the subscription bucks, so they’re not making the money they forecasted, and they paid a fair chunk to WBD for these rights, thus the layoffs. Allegedly there’s more to come, stay tuned.

Not a bad idea, but I’m not sure Rick would want to work for Rogers somehow, then again….!

Stingray should also just by CHFI and turn it into the breez before rogers eats it alive.

Rick was already doing the occasional "live-eyes" for BT and I believe does casual work for CHFI. I always wondered why they were having him on the payroll.. this might be the reason why.

I think with whatever "re launch" that Rogers does with BT, they might start broadcasting it from their 1 Mount Pleasant studios. I noticed on CityNews broadcasts that they have reverted to having the newsroom as their backdrop instead of the updated one with panels and screens that they introduced a short time ago. It's possible they are starting to move equipment and prep. the new studio?

So that means that Sid and Meredith are no longer with Rogers?

I still remember how much damn fun Tim and Sid used to be to listen to on their show.
And Meredith left her steady afternoon radio gig for this television "opportunity."
Feels like B.T. management made a change just to make a change. Some V.P. probably needed to justify their own salary by looking decisive and making cuts.
I wish Sid and Meredith well and look forward to seeing what they do next.
Wonder who else is going to be "asked to leave" in the coming weeks...
It's not a good feeling to be one of the ones left either.

Or perhaps they'll try to simulcast with CHFI or try to create a hybrid that has shared elements with some TV-only inserts during which music is played on CHFI - after all the suits think TV is just radio with pictures.

Hmmm? I wonder if Tim Bolen who has left CHCH morning show after many years at CHCH could be a possible BT host? Anyone with any intel on why he departed CHCH where it seemed his role was secure and what his planned move was?

Eventually they'll all just be replaced by AI avatars. They kept Sid and Meredith around long enough to scrape the data needed to recreate them virtually.
Next Monday: BT is proud to present your new co-hosts "Sid 6.0" and "Meredith Showbot 2000", please welcome your new Rogers AI chatbots!

Here is the story from Brodcast Dialouge.
Sid Seixerio and Meredith Shaw released from Breakfast Television

Likely unrelated, no Alex Seixeiro on 680News today.
Yep I noticed that too... [update Feb 11. 12:24am EST] listening to news at midnight with Mitch Burke and Maria Kestane, Alex Seixeiro was featured for athlete of the week or something, but his salutation at the end was his name and Sportnet Central. Was this pre-recorded? Very strange...
By the way, someone extracted the announcement I saw on BT this morning on YouTube.

Interesting quote from Tim in the last paragraph of the article.
CHCH host Tim Bolen leaving station after 13 years

Alex S. is back on sports at 680 and it has nothing to do with anything else. Completely voluntary decision

Or maybe they are short staff for Fan 590. Mike Leach moved up to afternoon sports, he was previously announced during evenings and weekends.

Viewers are not happy, although perhaps the Star's headline is a bit exaggerated.
Breakfast Television hosts Meredith Shaw and Sid Seixeiro’s abrupt exit leaves audiences reeling: “Viewers are blindsided”
Offline
Not much of an exaggeration - Meredith Shaw’s Instagram post has over 3000 comments.

I wonder how many viewers BT will lose. Maybe lots?
Is there another better Canadian morning show that is good? I watch CHCH's Morning Live and it's pretty good. I don't watch CTV's Your Morning. I sometimes watch CBC's morning show.
But is the Global Morning show good too?

What about CP24? It is not bad... I kind of like the quirky Jay Onrait to catch up on the sports world from the night below.

Global's morning show can be fun, but the major negative about it is that it feels mostly like a giant infomercial for either Jameson vitamin products or Corus programming (usually one of their home renovation or cooking shows), interspersed with some useful health and travel segments. The hosts are both very likeable which is probably why the show remains popular, but the producers really need to put in some work to make the segments not feel incredibly repetitive from week to week.

Sid and Meredith are OK as cohosts but they both start at 7am with Devo, Frank and Tammy/Caryn open the show at 6am.
My only complaint with the BT hosts, since Sid and Meredith, is they reintroduce themselves after every commercial break. As if we have a memory of a goldfish...
Back then Kevin Frankish would start off BT and Dina phase in 30min or 1 hr.
Melanie Ng is now filling in as guest host. I am curious if Devo is getting paid as fill-in host or his base position since he is doing double duty.

CP24 is good too. A bit different since they moved out of 299 Queen. At least Bill does not have to stand out in the cold while doing the weather during the morning show. I will miss their outside segments from 299 during the summer months. I switch between CHCH and CP24 during the morning period.

If anyone had PVR or Tivo Breakfast Television the last week with Meredith Shaw and Sid Seixeiro, I vaguely remember Sid commenting Meredith "This will keep your job."
I don't recall what segment it was, but I thought it was odd that he would say that.

I like the idea of a Devo & Melanie morning show, but if Rogers has other plans, so be it...
