It seems pretty clear from Dina's explanation that Meredith and Sid got the boot because Dina accepted the offer from the producer to come back to BT.  I suppose that it might've looked bad to only fire Meredith in order to replace her with the person that she originally replaced, so BT decided to also get rid of Sid as well to make it seem more like a bigger makeover coinciding with the move to the new studio.

The Rogers press release on the new team includes one very interesting note:

Dina is not only the new/old co-host, but she's now also the co-executive producer of BT. I'm sure that extra title (and likely the money that goes with it) may have had something to do with her decision to come back.

Yikes that's what I was thinking. She was fawning all over their social media posts when they were each let go [Sid, Meredith, Tracey] and yet she knew all along she was the end of their demise. Wow. I know I know it's a cutthroat business. I think she's a little over the top, so I won't be watching, but I don't think she's as sweet and full of love as she portrays. 

I'll stick with the CTV morning show, entertaining and informative. 
 

Didn't see her until 8am and was watching earlier.  Nice gig!
