The evening was emceed by AM800 CKLW talk show host Dan MacDonald and included former Big 8 jocks Ted Richards and Pat Holiday, former Program Director Les Garland and Rosalie's son, and daughter, Tim Trombley and Diane Lauzon. Peter, thank you for reaching out to help a friend in need. Mike is not the only current or former broadcast colleague who has found himself in dire straits. I hope you see a good response to your effort and that it helps Mike overcome this hurdle in life. Have you reached out to NABS to see if they can help?  I recall NABS reps making pleas for support at many a CAB and regional broadcast association convention in years past. Surely the association can come to the aid of a broadcaster in time of need.

I was saddened to learn this morning of the passing of Ben Steinfeld who battled MS for a number of years.  Ben was a colleague at CFTR in the late 70s.  A talented, witty guy who also toiled at CHFI and CBC before venturing into some television and communication work.

This may be a longshot but does anyone have a lead on a gramaphone owner (or anyone for that matter) that might be able to play a metal disc that needs a wooden stylus?  A friend has two such discs that resemble CD's from 1941 - voice recordings of servicemen recorded during the war in England.  I'd love to get them digitized for her.

It's true.  They had an emotional goodbye at 8:15 am on CTV2.
