I discovered this British-made series of documentaries by accident, as frequently happens on YouTube. But I'm glad I did. It's pretty terrific. Much of it is about radio in the U.K. and Europe, including the pirate stations and the pioneering Radio Luxembourg.
But Part 4 is all about what American radio was like as the 40s gave way to the 50s - and rock and roll began to emerge as a major player on the air. The visuals are great and there are interview clips with Dick Biondi, Dan Ingram, Charlie Tuna, Casey Kasem, Jerry Blavat and many, many more industry legends.
Even though it's about a decade old, it's new if you've never seen it. I really enjoyed it and hope to watch them all at some point. Worth a look if you have a few minutes to spare.
