Still something unnatural about this avatar. The delivery is flat. The body movement is stiff to almost being corpse like. Sorry if this were a real weather presenter I would be looking elsewhere, this "presenter" lacks something - humanity.
SOWNY » Election Fun Time: Who Will Win? Minority or Majority? » April 23, 2025 1:20 pm |
Mace I will agree with most of your seat projections with the exception of Alberta. I believe the Liberals can pick up some urban seats. 5 plus or minus. Also think it will be large Liberal minority or perhaps a small Liberal majority. If the NDP does as poorly as you suggest then I believe the Liberals will form a majority government. Also predict that there will be at least 2 parties with new leaders in a years time, the Conservatives and the NDP with a chance that the Green Party finds a new leader as well.

I have seen adds of both the British and Canadian versions of the Great Baking Shows and on a couple other programs. Yes the ads are repetitive. RA is there someone in your household that has subscribed and you don't realize. But I guess if you don't get CBC News Network then that's not the case. I suppose it depends on the popularity of the program in question as to whether ads will be seen.

Yes TVO broadcasts a signal from London.
SOWNY » Could this radio tower be demolished soon? » February 16, 2025 11:31 pm |
The tower is owned by TVO and the London TVO signal is broadcast from there, as well as the repeaters for CFMT and CJMT. When CBC TV had a transmitter in London (CBLN) it broadcast from this tower as well as the French TV network. Even though CBC TV (English) was largely just a rebroadcaster of CBLT TV from Toronto it had its own call letters CBLN and a bunch of CBLN associated transmitters CBLN-1 through 6 serving Chatham, Sarnia, Wingham, Wiarton, Normandale and Paris/KW
So it would not just be disruptive to radio but TV as well.

Have you tried forcing a reload Shift-F5 or on a Mac CTRL-R I believe
You could try clearing your cache and cookies for anything CTV related
Because the URL's have changed what is cached on your computer might be causing issues.

I will post this here rather then the defund the CBC thread.
He thinks they are spewing propaganda and they are their (CPC) opposition. How very Marxist to shut down a voice they don't agree with. If I had a choice I'd rather see Pierre Poilievre and the CPC to disappear than the CBC. The right and alt-right around the world is taking us down a very dangerous path. God (insert whoever else you wish) us all. I'd rather be Woke as He!! then Dumb as F@#$ which is what seems to be a prerequisite of being a conservative these days. Nothing Conservative about screwing over your children's and grandchildren's existence on this planet for a few cents at the gas pumps. But I believe we have already screwed over the planet and are past the tipping. The earth will have its last revenge on us in the next couple under years.

Does Rogers have any Canadian content on any of their newly launched Discovery branded channels. I haven't seen any. I bet they expected Corus to rollover and they would low-all all the existing Canadian productions to fill their Canadian content requirements on their new channels.

Does anyone think Bell is in a hurry to launch Rogers replacement channels. They probably want people to get used to USA Network, Oxygen and all the other new CTV branded channels. And Rogers is not playing nice by offering CTV's or Corus's channels on Free Preview as announced. In fact Shaw no longer has Video on Demand offerings for Corus or Bell channels. Those agreements either ended or were pulled as of Dec 31, 2024. Rogers as disrupted the hegemony of the Canadian BDU market.

My carrier in southwest Ontario,, Execulink Fibre says the channels are no longer available to them.
Rogers Cable, Shaw Cable (owned by Rogers) and Shaw Direct Satellite are the only big providers offering the new HGTV, Food Network etc. There are a couple smaller providers who are either negotiating carriage or may have launched since Jan1.
Citytv+ and Discovery+ would be options if you want to stream the services. I think Rogers has made a mess of the launch,

The general will be if it was a Corus/Canadian produced show it will be on Flavor
If it was Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD)/US produced show then it will be on the new HGTV
There are some exceptions for shows that began airing in the fall of 2024 and repeats of some of the US based shows. The contract is either different for some of the US shows or they were licenced separately from the WBD content. For the time being the previous HGTV and Food Network programming is going to be spread over the now two competing channels.in each genre.
SOWNY » Corus Officially Launches 2 Cable Stns. Replacing Those Lost To Rogers » January 1, 2025 5:40 pm |
I don't think you can call these channels knock-offs. Corus was programming HGTV on 1600 up until midnight. Corus is now programming Home Network in the same position. If anything is a knock off it is the Rogers version of HGTV as it is the new channel as of January 1 2025. Same with Flavour and Food.

2038 is the year that some Unix systems if not updated will have a Y2K date issue. Y2K was not a disaster because a lot of work went on behind the scenes to correct the issue. The Y2K bug has reared it's head after the fact as well. Some systems punted the issue down the road by assuming that if a 2 digit year was 00-19 that the date was 2000-2019 once the system rolled to 20 systems assumed it was 1920 as two digit years from 20-99 were assumed to be 1920-1999. Parking meters in NYC failed on January 1 2020 because nobody updated the systems after the temporary fix. I had a point of sale system pop up a message my card wasn't valid on January 2, 2020 for similar reasons. Yes it was a non-disaster because a lot of people behind the scenes updated systems so things would not fail over.
See here for a description of the Y2038 issue
