I question the need to editorialize on the CBC when you give praise to the their streaming fare.  It's like the friend who constantly gives backhanded compliments.

Getting back to the original subject.  There are weather presenters on CTV London that refer approaching low pressure systems (storms) as "weather makers".  A high pressure system that produces clear skies is also "making the weather".  High and low pressure areas, troughs etc all make weather.  Rather then "weather maker" they should be saying storm centres or low pressure areas because invariably they are referring to an approaching storm when they talk about "weather makers".

Agreed once you get away from the London area  in SWO there are many dead spots, regardless of what the coverage maps say.

Ok, so when you severe employment with someone there are several different codes you can use on an ROE (record of employment).  Dismissal would be the most severe and indicates the person was let go with cause - typically no severance would be required under ESA (Ontario) but radio being federally regulated there maybe different rules.  Even if there is cause some organizations may pay a couple weeks to try to prevent the person going to court, tribunal etc.  Even if there is cause, if someone is successful in court, Common Law might dictate some sort of termination pay is owed.  

If a person is laid off the ROE may indicate an anticipated return date or no return date.  If the layoff becomes permanent then at a minimum the person would be owed pay in accordance with ESA (Ontario) or Federal statue in the case of Radio and TV.  Common Law may dictate more severance is owed and some organizations may sweeten the pot to try to  convince the former employee not to go the legal route.  ie a negotiated settlement.

Actually CBCNN is no longer a must carry in English markets in Canada.  That changed a long time ago.  Many BDU's do include it all their packages.  I believe it is only mandatory in Quebec.

I remember those early cable boxes.  It was always great when the two channels you were watching were above and below each other.  You could simply use the rocker switch to quickly go back and forth.  Long before there was a last channel button.

101.3 disappeared as preset on my car radio after their flip and 95.9 and 98.1 have both never been preset.
