No, not her - this song came out between 2000 and 2005, likely about 2002-2003.

I am trying to remember a singer from the early 2000s (I feel old saying that šŸ˜„) so that I can find one of her songs on Youtube. I remember the name of the song (ā€œWhere Iā€™m Goingā€, for what itā€™s worth), but there are enough similarly-named songs that the Youtube algorithm canā€™t find it. Same thing from Google when I search the lyrics that I remember, and I even tried singing it at Google šŸ˜„ maybe I just canā€™t sing!

The song is pop/R&B style, if I had to guess, and I *think* the singerā€™s first name is Melanie or Melody; as I said, sheā€™s Canadian, and the song featured some lines from an American rapper (but of course I donā€™t remember who, someone along the lines of Akon or T-Pain, but not them). I probably heard the song on Edge/CFNY or CHUM-FM.

I donā€™t know if this might twig anyoneā€™s memory, but hereā€™s the chorus as near as I can recall:

Iā€™m gonna get to where Iā€™m going
Slowly but surely
Iā€™m gonna get there, when I do
Maybe maybe Iā€™ll see you

Iā€™ll be chuffed if any of you remember this - itā€™s been stuck in my head for days now!

I just had to put my 13 year old border collie down this past Sunday. Of course not comparable to a parent to some people, to me , it was like watching a child die. Iā€™m very sorry for your loss. Itā€™s devastating to say goodbye to a beloved family member that loves you unconditionally.

I remember when the Global signal was broadcast on FM. I donā€™t recall the frequency, but it was around 87.9-88.1, and I used to listen to Y&R in my car on the way home from school or my part-time job - this was in the late 80s to the mid-90s.

My mistake. He did tweet something about never letting a Gilliam child manage your finances, or words to that effect. His daughter also weighed in on the tweet thread, and he said that last week had been one of the worst of their lives, but I couldnā€™t find any explanation as to why.

Z103.5 (DC 103 as it was known then) originated in an old house on Broadway in Orangeville. I was on staff when we went on air on May 1st, 1987. It was cozy, but it served our needs. I was long gone by they time they moved to Etobicoke.
I believe the house on Broadway is now a dental practice.

Orangevillian here (until 1991, that is) - I wish I could remember that momentous day but I sadly donā€™t!

This station is small-town enough that they announce the names of people in the area whoā€™ve recently passed away, and which funeral homes are looking after the arrangements - yet the music they play is surprisingly relatively contemporary, as opposed to ā€œeasy listeningā€, which one might expect from a small station in a rural community. My family and I were in Perth in January visiting my mother-in-law, who often has the station on in the background, and I found myself singing along to the playlist several times! They also have a Big Band show on Sunday mornings.

This same kind of thing happened to frequent radio panelist Laura Babcock, who appears often on a number of CFRB shows. She has the exact same name as one of the murder victims of Dellen Millard and Mark Smich, who were convicted of the would-be actress' murder in 2012.Ā

Babcock has complained on air in the past that some people didn't realize she's not the same person who was killed and many are surprised when they discover this Laura Babcock is still very much alive.Ā

I see her on Twitter fairly often and could never figure out why her name sounded familiar. Thanks!

That was a truly horrible case, and I still think about Tim Bosma and how he took them for a drive in his truck, thinking they just wanted to buy it, and they killed him. They are evil.

I used to listen to 680 when I was getting ready in the morning. A few years ago, my husband had plugged an Android streaming box into the TV in our bedroom, which was probably no more than six feet away from the radio in the bathroom. That Android box caused so much interference in the signal, I could hardly hear what they were saying.

Box is gone now and I started listening to CBC 99.1, which has a good strong signal but also some odd interference, the source of which I havenā€™t identified yet.
