CBC transmitter in Halton Hills

The one just south of the 401 and east of Trafalgar - I can see it from my house in northwest Mississauga. It usually flashes caution/warning lights (not sure if that’s the proper name for them); white during the day and red at night. The lights have been off for the last couple of days, which is very unusual. Any idea what’s happening?

Re: CBC transmitter in Halton Hills

I suspect either a controller failure, or a failure of the electronics that drive the high intensity LEDs. I believe they switched from Xenon strobes to LED a few years ago. Bearing in mind that two 50 kW stations (CFZM 740 and CJBC 860) are feeding the same tower, there are very high voltages at certain points on the tower. I know of one strobe manufacturer that refuses to supply for high power installations because of the high probability of eventual failure.
