Wow! Thanks for that, RA.

I remember when I was watching North of 60 on APTN and they suddenly interrupted the show for a news bulletin.

It was the crash into the WTC.

North of 60 is a show that is long overdue for a DVD/Blu-ray release.

Agreed, but I don't think it will ever happen. There was a group dedicated to the show (I think it was in Yahoo Groups or Google Groups), dunno, can't remember now. But they contacted the rights holders and asked for a DVD release, but nothing ever happened. There were lots of fervent fans in that group.

EDIT: And they were American fans, the group starter was an American who'd grown to love the show. They used to keep tabs on where it could be seen, as it moved around on the US satellite channels.

It's been a long time since I've seen an episode, but I definitely recall the actors.

August Schellenberg was hilarious as a visting rogue. Gordon Tootoosis was wonderful as Albert. Robert Bockstael as the cop who slowly went insane. Many more, too many to mention here. And Tina Keeper, who became the lead, did a terrific job. It was a damn good show.

Here's a vote for "North of 60".  Started out as kind of a semi-comedy but became quite serious as it moved along. Many terrific actors appeared on that show, and most (but not all) episodes were well written.

It's perfect timing. The Brittney Griner story, plus Caitlin Clark, put them front & centre. But it will die out. Remenber when Eric Lindros was a big deal?

Interest in individual players is not enough to keep a league alive. The WNBA would have disappeared a long time ago without the support of the NBA.

I couldn't tell you how many teams are in the WNBA........ I won't be watching.

Same for me, and I'm a former Raptors season ticket holder.

But the arrival of Caitlin Clark from college is going to cause a huge upsurge in interest, similar to when LeBron James entered the NBA. She really is a phenomenon.

Larry has done a lot for sports in Toronto. Good on him!

I think the current hype on the WNBA is going to die out. There aren't many Caitlin Clarks around. I'd put this in the Toronto Rock category. They're not exactly big news these days.

Same with the women's hockey league, anyone want to bet they don't last five years?

When I was in junior high, they used to give out free Marlies tickets, and I think that's the only way, after the hype dies down, these women's leagues can put bums in seats.

Not saying this is good, just that it's reality.

I could have lied through my teeth.

Hey, he was on every week for years, and was quite popular.

What about Ward Cornell?

This list can only grow as people notice omissions. I think this topic is too big for a Forum Poll

The Star claimed 1000, and it was called a "rally", not a parade. Mayor John Tory skipped it in favour of a council meeting.

Geez, when I was a kid we used to go down to CNE stadium and the place was packed. And that was for a losing team.  AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOS!!

Sad story. And curling? I live 500m from a curling rink. Don't see a lot of cars in the parking lot these days.

But Rachel Homan still has beautiful eyes, so there's that.

They nailed it yesterday, as they almost always do. I can't imagine why anyone would rely on TV weather forecasts over what's available every day from many reliable sources.

But then again, lots of people pay premium prices for vinyl records.

That's very true. Here's a link I find handy for finding out the conditions in real time:

Who needs teevee weather forecasts? One minute spent on Environment Canada's weather site (or app if you're a youngun that lives on the phone) tells you what's going to happen. 30 seconds to view the forecast for your location, 30 seconds to check the radar.

I thought, visually at least, the Grey Cup broadcast experience was really well done. The Green Day performance captured my interest such that I stuck around to watch the game.

It was good football, and the camera & replay work was superb. Light years ahead of the last time I watched a football game. And much better than the run...run...incomplete...punt of the boring NFL product.

Can't say anything about the commentary, the sound was OFF.

I went there at halftime after the Raptors blowout of Detroit, mainly to see if Green Day were going to lip sync a la Super Bowl. They didn't, and were surprisingly good. So I stuck around for the second half and saw a damn good football game. Hadn't watched a football game in decades.

Oh, in this particular case I quite agree. Where it gets expensive is if you have a large property up north with lots of weeds. Compared to what a litre of concentrate used to cost, premix is outrageously expensive.
