Pretty lame excuse to fire someone.  A few minutes of "trending" means ten people saw something to crap on.  CTV should have more faith in their brand than this example.

I think before everyone gets their shorts in a knot and jump to conclusion is the fact that Netflix and Amazon are already showing and producing lots of cancon, and they are doing so willingly. And even more interesting is  that they are showing a decent amount of cancon on their services in the US as well. And I am not talking about shows just shot in Canada, shows like Being Erica, Murdoch Mysteries, Corner Gas, Schitt's Creek, Durham County and many more currently offered on various US platforms.

If Netflix, Disney etc is going to produce CANCON then they should be completely funding the project without funds from the Provincial or Federal Grant programs.  Shooting a few minutes worth in Canada and getting free money to do so is not creating Canadian content.  Disneys first big production The Morning Show" had Ontario and Quebec funding.  Thats a long stretch to call it Cancon.

Years ago when I was at CTV they did a game show that counted towards cancon.  It never aired on the network nor was it meant to be. Simply producing it got the credits.  When I was at Food Network they started doing BB's that made no sense, suddenly they were promoting a show after the show coming up -that was cancon.  The BB's for "coming up next" etc counted as Cancon as well.  Lawyer will figure out a painless way around the laws.

I believe the issue the CRTC has is Netflix ,and others to come, take from Canada in the form of $ but do not support out film industry in a significant manner.  My take on this is they're looking at Netflix to either open a production studio or shoot more content in Canada putting $ back into the economy.  The argument that the US doesn't is somewhat a non starter as no US providers carry Canadian channels in significant numbers.

Bell has been doing this for quite some time in smaller market TV.  I've often seen reporters setting up cameras.  There is a downside as reporters tend to let the camera "roll".  When they go live I''ve seen instances  where the FB feed remains live and picks up everything they're saying.  I had to call one of my US clients and let them know they still live while getting a "hot tip" from Police on where to go next.  Competition best them there by leaving first.

Indeed!  There are a lot of Sinclair employees quietly looking for work elsewhere.  I know this as my clients  have been telling me they're getting reels virtually everyday.

At the end of the 2009 season it was well known that Halladay was going to be traded in the off season.  Yet only about 12000 or 13000 fans showed up for his last start at the Rogers Centre.  I remember commentators being disappointed that so few paid to see, arguably, the best pitcher in the history of the Blue Jays, play for the home team for the last time.

Surprised at the number of people....it sure didn't seem like that many.

Brian Henderson passed away this morning. He had been in the early stages of treatment for lung cancer and was apparently back in hospital after breaking his hip in a fall Christmas day.
His family is in the early stages of planning a service, possibly on the 20th with thoughts of a memorial later.

Do you mean 1980-1983? I do know for a fact that KJ would come on right after Jesse and Gene at 7 PM in 1988 (or 89?) and I could have sworn he also came on right after Mike Cooper before that, but I could be wrong there.

Pretty sure KJ was a "swing anncr" so you could have heard him in many different time slots.
