Re: Limbaugh is dead

"RIP Rush Limbaugh. He was born in 1951 and stayed there his whole life." a tweet from Matt Oswald.

The fact that Rush Limbaugh's passing has Satan trending on Twitter says more about our overwhelming need to publicly vent than Mr. Limbaugh, but good heavens the chickens have come home etc.

Give the man credit for uncovering the fact that vaccinations are a cover for inserting a micro-chip into everyone

Re: Limbaugh is dead

Throughout all the love and hate in the obits for Limbaugh, I noticed very few mentioned his previous foray as a Top 40 radio DJ. Finally, somebody did.

Before making it big, Rush Limbaugh got his start in Pittsburgh as ‘Jeff Christie’

Re: Limbaugh is dead

I wondered about this, too, in a previous post. For now, it looks like the only one who can fill in for a dead Limbaugh is a formerly live Limbaugh. How long they can keep that going is another story.

What's next for Rush Limbaugh's show?

Re: Limbaugh is dead

Rush Limbaugh's replacement has finally been named and it certainly won't be easy for anyone to attract the same kind of audience he did. But Westwood One has decided on Dan Bongino, whose name is better known in the U.S. than here.

Bongino certainly has a colourful past. He was a former NYC police officer and a Secret Service agent for five years, before getting into radio and making an unsuccessful bid for political office. He's as right wing as Rush, but whether he'll be as strident or will appeal to the same audience remains to be seen.

They share one other thing in common - both suffered from cancer, with the new host just recovering from Hodgkin's lymphoma. His first show in the Limbaugh slot will be May 24th.

Dan Bongino to take over Rush Limbaugh's radio time slot

Re: Limbaugh is dead

As far as valedictory assessments of Limbaugh's life and times go, Behind the Bastards did a surprisingly even-handed job.

Re: Limbaugh is dead

We are only talking Cumulus talk stations that aired Rush for the carriage of Bongino. Premiere Radio Networks plan to continue as is for the near future. Cox Media's WSB are going local in the old Rush time slot.

Re: Limbaugh is dead

So what happens to Limbaugh's old slot on WBEN-AM? The answer is no more syndicated programming. Instead, The Buffalo News reports the station is extending two local shows to cover the timeslot that Rush used to occupy.

That's good. Let's hope more stations go with local options. Back to back national syndication is killing talk radio.
