Good info other than Koodoo is not available in some areas. I have a similar plan with Simply Connect for 80$ per month plus tax for two numbers also. I have had no connection issue anywhere I have been thus far.

If the Collingwood bar being referred to was the Mountainview, it was demolished in the 90's and a modern building built in it's place. Side note, the restaurant in the old Mountainview Hotel was operated for many years by the late John Candy's mother.

Thanks for the update. I didn't know he had passed. I used to find him after 1 am on 1170 am, most of the time he was asking for $, but when he got on a roll, it was a hoot to listen to. Now I'm talking about the early 90's, once I discovered Art Bell, I never listened to Stair again. All these overnight radio shows kept me alert while doing my daily road trips, music would just make me sleepy at the wheel I found, same stuff on every station, not much has changed.

Yes! The Bozo, thanks RA, I never did long haul into the US, but he gave a great service to those people who ran the roads at night. I did over night company store deliveries from 1988 to 2009 and was an AM-aholic. There was alot of great radio back in that era that came in at night from US stations along with the Bozo show . Phil Hendrie from Atlanta, Jaz McKay from Clevland , Art Bell on various stations, Steve and Garry from Chicago , I even used to listen to a fire and brimstone preacher sometimes named Brother Stair from Waltersboro North Carolina , not for the religous aspect, but just because he was so entertaining lol,  and, of course, Larry King and Jim Bohanon.

If I remember correct, a station in the US aired an over night trucker based show for years. I'm thinking WLW at 700 AM ? There was a trucker type channel on Sirius also for awhile back when I was doing trucking. Road Dog maybe ? I can't recall now.

My son also is a Canadore graduate but decided to not pursue a broadcasting career and returned to the college to take a business course . He is now employed in the insurance industry and doing well. The Canadore studio is being leased to an actual on air radio station... 106.3 Jet Fm, formerly a Moose brand station. They announce in their promos they are broadcasting from the Canadore studios.

I would say this is exactly the plan. Purge the high paid veterans who require an entourage to record a segment, or perform a live one, and replace them with the new crop of one person does all, saving several salaries. I went through a similar scenario in 1986 when my broadcast career ended after new owners of the station took over and we were all relieved of our duties, and replaced with virtually family and friends of the manager , who had no on air experience but likely were not paid. That's when I made a major change in my life, got a truck license and was never unemployed again.

Thanks,  I can't seem to be able to upload a picture through the system here. I've tried several times. He was actually blind the last three years of life. He was the most gentle soul I have ever known. It is so different now to get up expecting to take him out for a pee. His name was Brodus. My son named him after the former WWE wrestler named Brodus Clay.

Thank you for the kind words folks. Yesterday, I cleaned out the back of the car where he had been laying enroute to the vet clinic. He had lost control of bodily functions and shed alot of hair. I had cleaned the waste on Sunday, but hadn't vacuumed out the hair yet. Life goes on, just with a void. We just moved to a new community last month, I haven't really met any on one the street yet, a gentleman walking by with a shepherd on a leash saw me cleaning the car and stopped to say hello, his dog licked my hand, he said he had never seen him do that before. That had such an effect on me , I lost my composure , the gentleman hugged me and began to tear up also. At least I have made a new friend out of this sad time, well, maybe two.

Thanks RA, I didn't mean to hijack the thread by any means. My wife and I have decided, as much as we love animals, we are not going to have any more. It is just too hard to deal with putting them down. I had just bought two bags of food for him on Friday, he fell ill Saturday afternoon. I donated the food to the local shelter on Monday and will donate a bag each month from now on.

Sad to see this. I spent a week partying with Ronnie and the then version of the Stampeders when they played a week at a night club in Charlottetown PEI, I believe in 1978 or 79. I had them into the studio and recorded a several hour interview after they finished their gig for the night, and edited the session into a one hour special that the sales department was able to sell the air time for. It got me a 25$ bonus on my next cheque lol. For anyone who doesn't know, the Stampeder's name came from them winning a talent contest and the talent agency who conducted the contest had a sponsor for a record deal under the name The Stampeders. Ronnie told me this during the interview. RIP bud.

I just had to put my 13 year old border collie down this past Sunday. Of course not comparable to a parent to some people, to me , it was like watching a child die. I am still in slight shock of how fast it happened. Anyone who doesn't understand the unconditional love a dog gives, is not somebody I want to know.

The First 48 is actually a compelling watch. Real footage  from the 911 call to most times a successful investigation and arrest. The last seasons of it have centered on Tulsa Oklahoma and Atlanta Georgia. The murder rates there are astronomical. I don't envy the homicide detectives there at all.

I have a somewhat related story , although a humorous anecdote now, it was a serious event at the time. I was on air in my first DJ position in a small Maritime town. This was around 11.30 pm, the sales manager came staggering in, highly intoxicated, and started berating me about being an outsider from Ontario and that I thought my shit didn't stink etc. I asked him what his problem was and he got in my face and threatened me. I actually had to do a live extro and intro into the next record, he stayed silent during that. As soon as I turned off the mic, he slapped me across the back of my head, I spun around, which pulled the headphone cord out of it's plug in thing, it snapped back and caught him in the right eye. He ran out of the studio and I didn't hear anything from him the rest of shift which ended at 12.05, after reading a newscast and playing the station sign off. I had to change the log tape, do a clean up etc, and crept out into the hallway expecting another confrontation. He was no longer in the building, but there was a small trail of blood drops leading out of the front door to the street. I never heard anything more about it, and never saw him again during my time there. He is likely passed on now.
