Though I didn't work with carts or fully manual operations, some of those "bathroom songs" we had at our rock station 20+ years ago included the full album versions of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird", "Fool's Overture" by Supertramp, and GnR's "November Rain".
In college, when working summer shifts on the campus-based FM station with a rock/alternative format, long songs were great for hitting the hourly national newscasts from BN on weekday afternoons. Won't forget one time, using The Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony" for perfect timing to BN.
Right- the full length of November Rain is almost 9 minutes, guess I'm so used to hearing the single version.

The ones mentioned here are under 10 minutes, how about "Do You Feel Like We Do" or "The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys"?

I doubt very much that Whiteoaks would bring K-Lite back to 102.9 as they've been doing well with classic hits on Bounce. Likely the name change will be the only major difference listeners will hear.
IMO, Corus really missed the boat by not going back to classic hits on 95.3. Trying to pass themselves off as a Toronto station in a market glutted by CHR/Adult CHR/Hot AC (or whatever it is they're doing) seemed like a non-starter right from the get-go.

Yes also doubt the return of K-Lite since there is now Lite out of Brantford which covers Hamilton, Halton and into Niagara. Corus missed the boat on many things but definitely with 95.3-they had a fantastic format when they were "Vinyl"!

Yes, I noticed The Rock's stream quality was terrible when I tried listening to Jeff Woods' Sunday show, as well I sampled another newly acquired Durham owned station Y91.9-also very poor stream quality.

I don't think it is true because it makes no sense as all these stations that have decent to good ratings would be throwing away and confusing all their remaining listeners especially those that don't know about all these other sister stations, frequencies and HD (I'm terribly confused and I follow this stuff too deeply). And who would honestly brand a rock station or any station "The Monkey"?
Imagine "Southern Ontario's Best Rock 1057 The Monkey"

Yes it is great-sadly the audio quality of the online stream is pretty poor. Hopefully they will improve it!

There are just so many classic rock artists that just never get played. Other than "Another Brick in the Wall", where is the Pink Floyd? Styx? David Bowie? Van Halen? to name a few big names with large catalogs of music that we never hear on the radio. 97 Rock from Buffalo used to play a great variety of classic rock. Unfortunately, they get wiped out by Radio Humber here in central Etobicoke.
And "The Boys in the Bright White Sports Car" should never, ever be played. What a vacuous song!
The Classic Rock station out of London does pretty good with their mix-balancing the overplayed with some album tracks:
Although I do question some of the "newer" classic rock choices like Nickelback.

Yup and the format is now about as vanilla as you can get.

I just discovered there is a LITE 99.3 based out of Meaford (living in Barrie) signal is weak here though.
Just checked the on-air lineup for Meaford-looks like middays and drive are voice tracked out of Brantford. Brian Master does weekends, thought he had retired.

The music sounds the same. Lite 92.1 has been fairly upbeat since they shifted from Jewel. Lots of female vocalists in their playlists.
Looks like the playlist/format has changed actually-don't recall them playing Jonas Brothers or PitBull previously-seems to be leaning further and further away from Soft A/C.

I live in Kitchener which isn't that far from Hamilton and their signal has been terrible. When I have listened to CKOC there seems to be very little effort put into the station or programming. Even with announcers they go three songs without saying anything, and then it is basic time and temp. I have never heard a commercial and their promos are pretty ordinary. The station has no life or fun to it, so why listen?
Agree completely, sometimes it's more than 3 songs and when their morning guy Kent was on holidays there was no one on air. I heard their first commercial yesterday (a news sponsor). I guess I've mainly been listening out of curiosity to see where it goes.

I think the new Zoomer Owen Sound will give CFOS some big competition, especially when they are both on the FM band.. I will have to listen on line because it sure looks like the new coverage area for CFOS will be small.
Great Point-as the formats for both are very similar.

Is there a name change coming to move and bounce?
Are they keeping the HTZ fm branding?
HTZ will likely stay as it is a Heritage Brand-truthfully I haven't listened to it in several years-last I tuned in their rock format had been severely watered down-a far cry from the days of Iron Mike.
As for Move and Bounce hopefully they both get moved on over and bounced on out as those brand names are terrible. Bounce makes me think of laundry, and Hank Williams, and later George Thorogood said it best for Move:

been that way since Mike Devine was dropped from his morning show (plus his mid day shift on Dave-FM and evening shift on Magic 106.1). Dan Allaire is listed as doing mid days Mon - Fri from 10Am-2PM. Otherwise non stop music/commercials/traffic updates/ news weekday mornings. They also broadcast Guelph Storm and Hamilton Tiger Cat games. They would not fit in with the Magic 106 format. It will be really too bad if CJOY disappears. It has a great oldies playlist - broader than other oldies stations.
Given the state it's in-it's better off going dark! Let CKOC and Zoomer get some new listeners (they already have).

Wouldn't 95.3 be a good candidate for purchase? They can dump 93.5 and revive "Country 95-3," and cover Southern Ontario right into cottage country or give the GTA a true Soft A/C and do 95-3 The Breeze!
