I'm not a huge fan of CBC's English TV output, but I have been fairly impressed by some of the offerings on its Gem website.
And here's another show I'm looking forward to when it debuts there in March - a documentary on the origin story of the band Steppenwolf, whose "Born To Be Wild" and "Magic Carpet Ride" were classic hits in the 70s and still get played today. It debuts March 19th.
Two days later, comes another newcomer - "The Stones and Brian Jones," a look at the early days of the Rolling Stones.
Gem does require you to register and sign in to watch, but it's otherwise completely free.
Here's what else you can see on the site next month.

On the topic of Steppenwolf, I recently learned that two of my favourite songs by them-The Pusher and Snowblind Friend were actually covers-both written by Hoyt Axton.
