Station That Never Airs Ads Seeking Sales Rep
I had to laugh when I saw an ad on Milkman's site advertising an opening for a sales rep at CKOC. Among the lines in the copy:
"Imagine working for a radio station that is finally accepting ads after 6 months of playing music commercial free!"
You wonder how they've managed to keep the lights on all this time.
Here's the ad.

I hope they are able to get some ads...as I said in a previous post, CKWW, at least in the morning, has several adds.....I like CKOC's music choice...........I think their morning newsman is the same as CKWW Windsor is using.........CKOC will be, I think 103 yrs. old this year....I hope they rebound from the disaster that was TSN 1150 and Bloomberg radio

Six months without spots, another month to hire and onboard someone, then for them to start to bring in some money....they're going to be bleeding a lot.
And have they really run no ads? That means they haven't even partnered with Bell Media Sales, CBS, or Target to get on at least some national stuff. Not even pay-per-enquiry?
It's a little suspect.

The man doing the news is Al Pervin.
He had a short-lived talkshow on CKWW

Can't be any worse than what's going on over at 1220, just down the dial.
At least CKOC is formatted to be 70's and 80's.
1220 is just all over the place. I even heard some Country music on there.

I hope they can round up the ability to do a big 500 once again. That's something CKOC used to be famous for.

1220 Should just be sold or get an ethnic licence.
Maybe zoomer will by them and make it a zoomer talk station or a nostalgia station.

There is room for replacing the late great CHML, however, talk radio is very expensive to run.
A music format is a lot cheaper. I'd love to see a variety country format, but there is too much fear that the audience is too old for such an idea.

They could share shows with zoomer radio.
Zoomer has lots of resources for a small broadcaster.
They are the best option to run a talk station.
And, they might also do a variety/classic country format because they don't cair as mutch about ratings.
They program an oldies/classic hits mixed format and a classical format.
I hope zoomer comes in and saves 1220 from the same situation as CFMS.
