Well the NFL will be on  U.S. Network television until the current contract expires in 2033. After that who knows.

They won't necessarily be on CTV/TSN after 2026.

Cash, whether Mike has or has not been in the "business" of pure radio is irrelevant. He is absolutely in the new business of communications in one of the new avenues of the medium. He was an early adopter of a new technology, saw an opening in the market, and took the risk to leave his job and start his own company. That is impressive in my books. Who cares if he ever worked in radio? He produces an excellent show of his own along with many interesting podcasts.

That's fine. My point is that a podcast with 3, 4, or 5 local sponsors and no national appeal is not a big enterprise. It takes a massive amount of hits to make decent money on Spotify or Apple. He doesn't have the name recognition for such. That's my point. I suspect he is making money on the industry as a whole as a consultant or on the technical side which is fine. All the power to him. But don't pretend that a podcast he does from his basement with local personalities is making hundred of thousands of dollars. As someone stated above, it's more or less a hobby. Which is fine.

Here's Friday's episode of Toronto Mike'd. It's Dave Hodge's annual visit to my home studio to unveil his 100 favourite songs of the calendar year. It's awesome, and this episode has five paying sponsors.

Humble and Fred also have several paying sponsors, including such national brands as Kelseys and Bodog.

Nobody said it was easy, but don't assume no independent podcasts in this country are making money.

McCown and Blundell had sponsors as well.

Man, you're annoying. Have a nice night.

There are well known broadcasters who can't make a go of it. You are not exactly a big name in the business. Were you ever in the business?

How much is Ridley Funeral Home paying you? That's a very conservative business which doesn't need to advertise that much.

I suspect H&F are just doing it as a hobby, along with many others.
At least  Jesse and Gene admitted right from the get go that podcasting is just a hobby for them.

Well they always seem to have between 5 and 10 paying sponsors so I think it's more than a hobby.

How much would these sponsors pay per year for such a niche audience? $10,000? $20,000?

Could you be more specific? I have Fibe, but I can't see anything different about the onscreen guide. It looks the same to me.

A new guide with more options on the left of the screen
All the radio channels are gone including the French one
The last button gives you the last channel watched, Not a trending bar across the top anymore.
They finally fixed the sound on the Stingray music channels - it was always too low.

It was obvious that today's Question Period was taped pre Trudeau's trip to meet Trump. Two days can be a lifetime in news today. Maybe get a host who doesn't have a weekday TV and radio show who can do it live?

While not a classic, the Argo/Bomber Grey Cup game was an entertaining watch.  I'm a regular CFL viewer.

It's embarrassing for the Argos to win this on a semi-regular basis when you consider how little the people of Toronto care about this team/league.
