Baseball is more regional now. National rights don't really matter.

He's on vacation this week. I find this strange when analysts take vacation during the season and Jays are so hot right now. That's why they have an off season.

Just watched a three part documentary on Crave about the Christine Jessop case. Very well produced and tough to watch at the end. The two Durham "detectives" didn't participate and probably should be in jail.

I invite you both to come follow me around for a day. You will see that my world is very different than how you attempt to represent it.

I mean this in the nicest possible way - but all the stuff you're saying was told to me 20 years ago when we started. All of these same points on why we would fail or why it would never work... or the end was near. Radio this, small guys that.

20 years later... we just had a record year with the group with our oldest station also posting a record year as well.

End of day - Maybe you're right? I just don't live in that same world.

I see nothing but upside for the business of radio.

Have you seen any effects on your business from all this tariff craziness?

Tennis is a niche sport these days. Popular mainly in Europe. The US Open is no longer a big deal.

Agreed. I wonder if PP would have had better success in dealing with Mr.Trump. Unfortunately, we won't get a chance to find out any time soon.

How, exactly? I'm not necessarily in disagreement. Just wondering HOW you see this govt as incompetent... I think there's a lot to unravel...

Mexico got an extension. Canada didn't. Mexico didn't make some Palestine announcement two days before August 1st. I will never understand why the left is so obsessed with Palestine. I think I know why.

A Pete Rose book:

Pete cared about four things in life - Baseball, women, gambling and cars. Not sure in what order I would place them but I think baseball would be number one but ganbling would be a close second. The guy would bet on anything. Pete was a great player but a terrible human being. The book goes into detail about the shady characters he called friends who he sold out in a second to save his reputation. Pete spent the last 35 years of his life signing autographs.

His gambling problem was well known in the 60s, 70s and 80s but the press just would not report it. The fall of Rose is as outlined in detail in this book is depressing. The rise of Pete Rose is a great story. The detemination and hard work he put into becoming baseball's all time hit leader was something else. All that extra batting practice often after the game was over and into the morning hours. The guy had a great eye and a mental book on all the pitchers.

One story about the nickname Charlie Hustle. The Reds and Yankees are playing a preseason game in 1963. Pete is a rookie and is going all out - bunting, stealing and sliding head first in a preseason game. Mickey Mantle sees this and says, "Who the f&*k is this Charlie Hustle?". Pete thought it was a compliment and the name stuck.

I wonder if Jazz FM plays the same 300 songs over and over. Not that anyone could tell the differnce.

Brad Barker is a great broadcaster and was excellent for all those years on drive. He was also the Music Director and was extremely good at that as well. Having said that, typically when an MD moves on there is an overhaul of the music universes, rotations, clocks, etc. No idea who will be the new Music Director will be but they will have big shoes to fill. Also they do a lot of specialty shows, like a lot, so it's unlikely there would be much playlist fatigue solely for that reason.

As for mornings, I haven't had a chance to listen much recently but I've always liked Heather Bambrick and I think she is doing a solid job.

I am not a jazz fan so I wouldn't know if they were playing the same stuff over and over. I would imagine they would have more flexibility to play a wide variety of music. I imagine the same would be for classical music.

If this rumour is true, Tory will be obliged to bow out of substitute hosting for anyone on CFRB. He could be on for an interview as a mayoral candidate, but sitting in for John Moore would be out.

Given the scarcity of fill-ins over at 1010 (when Jim Richards is away, Deb Hutton does four hours and vice versa when she's off) I'm hard pressed to think of who might take Moore's place in the event this happens.

The election is not till October 26, 2026. He has plenty of time.
