In London there is a street named Westminster Drive. I've heard it on the radio called West Minister Drive.

One I hear all the time when we're in Florida. There is a street in Tampa called Bruce B Downs Blvd. Named after a former Tampa politician.

In traffic reports many announcers pronounce Bruce B Downs like it's all one word. Brucebydowns.

I've seen a few of that series around London. I'd have loved to be next in line when they issued 799.

I grew up with CKNX TV. That was our only channel. But I was too young to really know anything about their business affiliations.

They used to produce a lot of their own programs live. One I remember was called Circle 8 Ranch. It was a weekly show featuring a local, country music band and guest performers from around the area. One of the show's sponsors was a brand of workwear. I don't recall the name. Each week they would demonstrate the strength and ruggedness of the clothes. Four guys from the band would play tug of war with a pair of the overalls (two on each leg.)

One week the seam did rip and the four guys ended up on the floor laughing.

In their early days, CKNX also ran a lot of old movies from the 30s and 40s.

Just one more political comment, then you can ban me if you like.

After spending the last 3 1/2 months at our place in Florida, we're heading home this weekend. And we may not be coming back here. We.ve already decided that if these people elect Donald Trump again, we're outa here.

Anybody in the market for a nice double wide in Florida?

The time of life when I don't watch TV has been most of my adult life.

At 11 every night I sit down and watch the news. After that, I make a drink and, for the next 30 minutes or so, I watch whatever my wife happens to be watching. Usually some mindless game show.

The exceptions have been for major news events like a moon landing or an election night.

Yes I rember Dick Biondi when he was on WKBW. I was pretty young then and I misheard his name. I always thought he was saying Dixie Ozzy.

I don't mean childrens programming Just TV in general.

I was about ten years old when we got our first TV and we only got one channel.

I liked adventure shows like Cannonball. The show was about two truckers, Mike and Jerry, who got into an adventure on every trip. Another great, adventure show was Sea Hunt, with Lloyd Bridges.

Another one I liked, although not adventurist was a show called The Millionaire. Every week, on the show, a multi- billionaire would anonymously give a cheque for $1M to a stranger. In those days, being a millionaire was only a fantasy to dream about. Today, just about anyone who owns their home is a millionaire.

The makers of those old programs were very disciplined. Whatever the situation in the show, it was resolved in 30 minutes. Today, it would have to be a two hour production or maybe a mini-series.

In the 1970s I was living up in the Owen Sound area. In those days I was more active in the hobby than I am today. My best verified reception reports were for KFI in LA and KSL in Salt Lake City.

Back then it was common to receive Trans World Radio from the Antilles, crowding out CKLW on 800 KHZ in the early morning. But I never bothered to submit a reception report.

In 2010 we were in Cancun for a week. At night, AM reception from the US, along the Gulf Coast was  available.

This is the board that believes that talk show hosts don’t deserve to spend Christmas with their families so of course no one should have fun on St. Patrick’s Day either. It’s quite the place.

If people want to get pissed up and act like fools let them go ahead. It's nothing to me. Just don't expect me to participate. There might be 364 days in the year when I could do that. But not in a silly costume on March 17.

I once went to a bar in Collingwood, not even realizing it was St Patricks day or the significance of the day. I asked for a beer and, when she set it down in front of me it was green. I got up  and walked out without even touching it.

I should have suspected something when the place was full of drunks in the afternoon. They celebrate the life of their Patron Saint by going out and getting pissed up.

With their history of violence and killing, the Irish are the last nation of people on earth to be worthy of any tribute. It would be like Canada asking the world to join us in celebrating the heritage of our residential schools.

My observance of St Patricks Day is limited to dressing extra carefully in the morning to be certain not to wear anything green.
