While watching Corrie Street, I saw an ad for CBC Vote Compass. It is described as " A tool developed by political scientists to help you explore how your views compare with those of the parties" I took the test and I fall into the right of centre agreeing with most Conservative, some Liberal and almost no NDP or green policies. 30 questions are asked that everyone will have an opinion on and you can weigh them as to how important each issue is to you from 0[not at all important] to 5 [very important] Enjoy!

At first, I had the Liberals leading with my alignment of issues at 68%. The I ran the "priority of issues" scale and recalculated. I came out with the Greens leading by one point at 69%.
This surprised me, because my chief reason for voting Greens in the past was to (a) help build the party, and (b) because I aligned with their past views of removing income tax for lower income Canucks. However, with the co-leader setup they have, and the overly long tenure of Elizabeth May have made the party into a joke. I respect the Ontario provincial Greens, but at the federal level ... yikes!
I'll also say that these surveys show where my own hypocrisy lies. I do care about the environment, and do believe that there should be SOME way of lowering our reliance on oil consumption. However, I also admit that I would love nothing more than to look out my apartment window and see what most would call an "old man" car from the 80s or 90s, such as a Caprice, Crown Vic, Impala, or the like. Nothing makes me happier than driving a car that has suspension that makes one feel like they're driving on a cloud. I love a hood so long that it appears to cross the other side of the intersection. Yum!
So we all are a bit conflicted on issues, but it seems I'm a Green-Liberal. And here I thought I'd be a Red Tory.

Due to my late father's politics, I grew up a Mike Starr Conservative. Gradually, as the realities of where parties stand on many issues (not where they'd like you to THINK they stand), I moved to the Liberals. Do not assume that my somewhat favourable rating of Elizabeth May indicates that I want the Greens in government. If that ever happens, it won't be in my, or my son's, lifetime.

How do I get to it? Is there a link?

This was fun, thanks for bringing this up mace!
I turned out to be a little more conservative than I thought. I disagreed with 28% of what the CPC was proposing and agreed with 72%. For the Liberals it was 40% disagree and 60% agree. NDP score poorly with me since they never have realistic plans regarding the economy.
The green party took a bit of a beating with me, even though I have voted for them twice, once provincially and once federally. I agree with Jordy that the federal party isn't really credible anymore. Get rid of Liz May once and for all! I don't know much about her co-leader of the party, but let him run the show.
NDP and Mad Max of the PPC aren't on my radar much. For leader I had Carney 6/10 and Pierre 5/10

I was also centre right.
Not surprised but, Nun of the parties talk about the dissabled or elderly in there plans.
I used to like the NDP but they have gotten to far-left.I always hope that the NDP would help young disabled people like me with more accessability laws and perks for imploiers to hire us.
All jagmeet cairs about are muslims and refugees and drug adicts.

I took the survey, the same as in years past. My only issue is with the wording of some questions ( this happens with all surveys questions that i answer.). I'm against the gas tax, but I'm infavour of cleaning up contaminated land, doing something about our garbage and making sure we never dump any contaminated products into our rivers lakes or even the ocean.
So for the environment question I had a hard time answering the question. If the question was leaning toward the gas tax, or other issues.
The same would go for some of the other questions.

Stop it with the political shit RIGHT NOW! This is a radio and television forum, NOT a politics forum. WHAT PART OF THAT DO YOU NOT GET?

OK Forward Power. The thread was denoted as such so you could have completely skipped the thread if you wanted. At some point, you're getting mad for the sake of making a point - just to get mad.
We probably should have an off-topic forum. I'm a person who tends to want to know what forums or groups from other interests of mine think of other everyday things. So for example, I might like to know what people I chat with in tech forums, audio forums, business forums and radio forums, think about other topics. Politics may be one of them. And sorry, but I think that turning our backs on what's happening in North America right now is, dare I say it, irresponsible. It's all I friggin' think about.
So these "off-topic" threads are actually appreciated. In fact, current politics are more relevant to me than radio, HOWEVER, I want to hear what SOWNY posters think of it. Make sense? You won't care, I know, but that's my feelings about it.

If I took the quiz it would likely jam up the works at the Corpse, and cost you all as taxpayers some coin. I respect you all.

I'm a life-long, card carrying NDP member and party activist. I've always considered myself the be on the far left flank of the party. Indeed, in my youth, I flirted with communism. I hung out with some of them.
But, acording to this, I'm a centrist.

I think it's hard for these things to calculate or measure nuance. Just because someone opposes a gas or carbon tax does not nessarily mean they oppose dealing with climate change. Could in fact be the total opposite. A strong environmental advocate might quite reasonably see taxes as licenses to pollute and thus ineffectual. Or someone might want immigration restrictions not because they want to curb actual numbers or keep people out but because they have concerns about other aspects of immigration such as the concentration of immigrants in large cities or because they might see negative impacts on, say, the availability of doctors or housing.

I saw the promo on the CBC. There is your media tie in. Judging by the response most members seem curious to find out where their opinions/attitudes land on the political spectrum. That is the direction I was expecting it go and it has.

In fairness it seems it is only one person who has voiced his problem with the post and survey. If he doesn't like it, either don't read it or move on. Simple.

Agreed mace .. & bar one, that's the direction it's going : )) ..
Also agree that it's only one person here having repeated childish, hissy-fit tantrums & seems to think he & he alone can dictate what topics are acceptable for this forum. Heck, the thread topic even says "Political"; don't like it, don't read.
Hmmm, next things up, he may decide he & he alone can dictate which what's acceptable content on our local radio/TV stations or even what's acceptable for the Royal Ontario Museum .. geez, doesn't that behavior sound familiar.
