I'd say those cowboys boots in the background are a MAJOR clue as to what the major announcement is.

In West Palm Beach WPTV NewsChannel 5 was always my go to local morning newscast during my 3 month winter stay for the past several years. This past season I realized I was watching WPBF 25 the ABC station more and more. WPTV is a Scripps station and NBC affiliate. They weren't doing the "anchorless thing' but most of their morning anchors were what I would consider light weight. The main anchor team at 5 & 6pm are pretty solid so I hope they don't try this... guess I'll find out next year  

Yes, CTV maintained the space in the market after the morning show was cancelled. They used it for TV  interviews and their radio stations BX93 (now Pure Country) and 97.5 Virgin Radio would occasinally broadcast from there. I have no inside knowledge but I suspect some eagle eyed accountant asked why are we spending this money for space we rarely use? And that would be that 

I always listened to Dick during my teenage years and even won his "Pandemonium" contest once. I had the number dialed exept for the last digit and when I heard the sounder, completed the call and won!!! The prize??? A 45 rpm record (not even a hit) LOL

I agree the headlines on ABC World News Tonight are far far too long and I also agree with your observations about David Muir.. while I like him he gives the impression he thinks very highly of himself, I switched back to NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt many months ago. Solid, credible and authoritative delivery... works for me.

Like paterson1, I wastched about half of it then went elsewhere.
FOX 2 Detroit produces a LOT of local programming with a live morning show that starts at 4am and runs until 1pm... then more local news from 5-7pm and again from 10-11:30pm. 11 and a half hours and as paterson1 says, very straightforward with little or no editorializing.
In other words, nothing like the Fox 'News' network. 

WXYZ channel 7 turned 75 earlier this month and ran an hour long special as well. It aired near the end of September and was very well done. Here's a link if you're interested...

I have no inside knowledge of why CFTO doessn't use CP24 weather people or a TSN Sports report. The only thing I can think of is union jurisdiction issues... IF it's the same union and local --no problem-- BUT it may be diferent locals and the CFTO Sports and weather people were laid off or let go, so the union wouldn't want talent from the other sources taking those jobs. As I said, I have no specific knowledge and can only guess that's what it is... otherwise it's a no brainer to use CP24 and TSN talent.

I've never really liked Fallon... as Glen Warren said, he makes everything revolve around himself. 
In his tribute show to Bob Barker, Drew Carey said Bob knew HE wasn't the star of the Price Is Right, the CONTESTANTS were... and he let them shine! Just like Carson, Letterman, Leno and few others.

I seem to recall in his first year as host of the Tonight Show, Fallon took a few days off and when he came back still had black eyes and bandages for a few days. Word was he was so drunk he fell and really did some damage to himself. Not sure if it was ever confirmed but that was the speculation at the time. 

Lots of great information in that CTV Windsor report, it's just too bad the reporter's read was so brutal!!!

 

CRTC rules for simsub used to be that to qualify a station must have a B contour into the area, leading to  stations like CJOH and CKCO adding rebroadcasters into highly populated regions their originating transmitter didn't cover. CKCO had 4 transmitters providing coverage from Windsor to Toronto and north to Georgian Bay and Muskoka. All of the rebroadcasters have been shut down but I bet the CTV signal is simsub over US networks in all of the cities it used to, even without the transmitters. 

Unless the rules have changed should this be allowed? 

Sunday's game is on Peacock but since that streaming service is not available in Canada Sportsnet will carry it starting at noon. The earlier start is apparently a Peacock requirement in the U.S.

I don't subscribe to any streaming services because I pay more than enough for Rogers Ignite but with more and more MLB games moving to the services which are willing to pay millions$$$$ for the rights, one has to wonder how much longer we will be able to see htem on cable TV.
