I don't watch ABC, so I don't know how long Muir's intros are.  However, having worked in a national news room, I do know that writers were encouraged to fluff out the intros a bit to make sure the anchor -- a.k.a. "The Franchise" -- got a significant amount of time on-camera.

I guess I'm particularly bitchy today.  Now what's bugging me is the reporter referring to the CEO of Pearson as the C-O.  
 

It seems like forever since he hosted Canada Tonight on CBCNN and tonight, I noticed his name has been removed from the graphic.

Frequent nails on the blackboard almost daily is a host saying "We'll see you tomorrow".  No, you won't.
In my 40+ years in radio and TV, mostly on-air, never have I actually seen the audience from the studio I'm in. 

I'm enjoying the game and the telecast, but might have to abandon it.  The audio glitches are annoying and hard to listen to.

Why not? So many other ethnic groups have must-carry channels, and the Inuit are becoming more and more urbanized.  So we'll pay a few more cents a month.  Can you honestly tell me you'll notice?
 

I've been a reporter for a long, long time, and have conducted thousands of interviews.
These days, some younger reporter/anchor/hosts call distinguished guests by their first names -- and I don't mean in entertainment or sports interviews.  I've noticed it a lot lately.  
What prompted me finally writing this post is an interview I just saw.  The guest was an expert on Middle East issues and throughout the interview (probably 5-7 minutes), the host kept calling him "Eric".
I'm interested in hearing other people's opinions on this, and whether you think it's a lack of respect.

I never like or give any credibility to any list like this.  It's way too subjective.
Give me real, meaningful numbers like the biggest songs of the year based on sales and radio play.
 

My first fulltime radio gig was in Sault Ste. Marie in 1985.  We did "today's SPECIAL announcements" (emphasis on "special" right before the noon news on weekdays.
It didn't bother me to do them.  Death is part of life, and you retain a certain detachment from whatever script you were reading and react to it later, if at all.

Who says they won't keep a couple ENG crews and reporters downtown to be better able to react to breaking news outside of Agincourt?

Where I live, Eastlink is currently having problems with NBC.  It keeps losing the signal.  In its place is a graphics board saying it's experiencing technical difficulties and is working to resolve it quickly.  "So?" you might ask.  The graphic also has the Cogeco logo on it.
