Definitely not broadcast, as a search of databases doesn't show any publicly-available listings for anything on that tower. Nearest broadcast transmitter sites would be the CFZM/CJBC site at the 401 & 407, and the CHLO (+CIDC aux) site northwest of that, on the Sixth Line.

The CHLO tower is now also the temporary daytime-only site for CHIN 1540, since it's lost its longtime site on the island.

Are the old CHIN AM towers on the island dismantled, or are they just out of service?  While shipkeeping on Toronto's shipping channel in 2016, those tower lights always seemed a friendly beacon as I would sit in the officers' dining room.

IIRC that is/was an OPP communications tower

The OPP tower is east of the former CHIC 790 site, now CHLO 530 (located between the 6th line and Trafalgar Road).  FWIW, that site has quite the history.  CHIC 790 had a 10 tower array at the site. It was also the original site of CFNY-FM (formerly CHIC-FM after moving from 2 Ellen Street in Brampton) before moving to the CN Tower.  I believe it is also the site of the failed application by Evanov to move CIDC-FM closer to Toronto.

Of course I mean the powerful windstorm experienced by a large swath of southern Ontario in May 2022. I don’t remember what date, but it might have been Victoria Day weekend.

Yes, it was Victoria Day weekend... I was in Belleville that weekend, visiting family and one of my profs from Loyalist's radio program. Was inside the Quinte Mall with my niece when we got the storm but it wasn't all that intense in the city, just a few rumbles of thunder.

I also remember a nasty derecho that hit the Peterborough area in July 2006. Was visiting my sister, and the storm just came out of nowhere when we were out for a walk in her neighbourhood. We put on the 11pm newscast on CHEX, and they actually had to pause the cast and cut to a "NewsWatch" slide, likely as the staff took cover... the power went out shortly after that. We were going through the Lindsay area the next morning on our way to Collingwood, and CKLY "91.9 BOB FM" was doing a lot of live and local coverage of the storm's aftermath.
