I might be showing my age here, but the whole point and what made City Tv different was the back ground was the street where you never knew what was going to happen behind you while you were live on air. Moving to Dundas square they were able to keep some of this. Now they could be on any floor, including the basement with just a green screen behind them.
This might be cost effective but it's no longer City TV.
Aytononline, the Citytv brand was pretty much killed by Rogers when then bought the station. They axed most of the original programming like Speakers Corner etc., fired staff like crazy, including on-air talent, and killed the vibrant environment that once made the channel what it was. Remaining staff were in constant fear of being fired and it became a pretty crappy place to work. I was laid off and hired back in weeks, guess they were short staffed, which was good for me at the time. Hated working for Rogers though, they didn’t really “get” TV, just liked the idea of being a player I think. They’re rumoured to be looking for a buyer for the station, good luck in this day and age!

They have moved in to 333 Bloor, not 1 Mt. Pleasant...Breakfast Television and News Channel studios are on the ground floor with the Sportsnet studios, and office space is across from the radio studios on the second floor.
I spoke to an old friend who currently works in the City newsroom and he was definitive that the move was to 1 Mt. Pleasant next week. I hope you're wrong or he'll be going to the wrong address!

It amounts to the same thing.
Maybe the BT set will be at 333 for proximity to CHFI, while the news operation will be at OMP
Offline
I've been told the BT set is on the first floor of OMP.

I was just thinking back to the very beginning. How many times has City TV moved itself? It started in 1972 at 99 Queen St. E. That led to what employees there always called "The New Building" at 299 Queen St. W. They used to refer to it as the "Building That Shoots Itself," to which I always wanted to add, "In The Foot."
Then it was on to Yonge & Dundas, a site Gord Martineau suggested after the craziness with Bell buying City, and being forced by the CRTC to sell it to Rogers, leaving City no choice but to get out of 299. have sets.
After the move to Yonge and Dundas. The set for BT was on the ground floor. Eventually they moved up to one of the floors. Unsure why they decided to relocate out of ground floor.

When Citytv left 299 Queen after Rogers bought them, they split the station up. City News, BT and Ciyline were based out of Yonge & Dundas, while marketing, sales, creative services etc were moved to Lakeshore and Bathurst, mostly in the basement, which was a rude awakening! The only two benefits to the Lakeshore location was that it was fairly easy to get to, and they had a huge parking lot, which of course Rogers attempted to charge staff to park in, the push back made them stop, at least at the time.
Citytv’s philosophy back in the day was to be connected to its viewers, thus the street front studios. Rogers never quite got that.

With Rogers consolidating operations at the Rogers Building I'm wondering what recollections people have of other Rogers addresses? I recall CFTR/CHFI (and I think Rogers Cable) were at 25 Adelaide for years, moving there after a fire at 13 Adelaide. Rogers Cable also had a building on York Mills where I believe Cable 10 had a studio.

a nice feature they pulled together on CityNews moving from Yonge and Dundas, lots of good moments and memories and at the end they had clips of several now departed and still very missed on-air people.

Go back far enough and CFTR was @ 17 Victoria street.

Broadcast Dialogue weighs in:
Citytv, OMNI now broadcasting from Rogers’ Bloor St. campus

Having watched part of their 6 PM newscast, the set looks pretty much the same to me.
Although to be honest, I rarely watch CityNews so there may be changes I would not have been aware of.

I am still loyal to CTVNEWS@6 even though each night I wonder will there or won't there be a legitimate weather presenter.

I just heard that Dina Pugliese is now back on Breakfast Television.

I thought Rogers was donating the building to TMU?

I believe it was the city equipment that was being donated, not the building.

So this means that Quebecor could invest in the building if they get Global... (?)

I also believe Ryerson was to be the new owner of 33 Dundas Street, for expanded classroom space. I guess I read the fine incorrectly.
Looks like another good location for a new building with retail on the first floors and condos or apartments after that.

Has Bell announced where they will be moving The Social and Mary Berg recordings to?

Wrong building. Those are CTV shows (299 Queen Street West), not City (33 Dundas Street East)

I'm not sure what Bell is doing.
Corus lost their space at one of their buildings, so this is why I mention Global, perhaps as a Quebecor expense, not a Corus expense to move or relocate...if Quebecor does manage to get Global.
Then there's also another possibility.
I doubt Blue Ant Media has any desire to invest in a new home for Global...but I could indeed be wrong. (we still have to see who will end up with Global...)

I know 33 Dundas wasn't a CTV building. I was asking if they’ve announced where the broadcasts are moving, just to understand whether there might be interest from Bell in using this space.

Crazy idea. Rogers should buy 299 Queen St West from Bell and Move City TV there...

Crazy indeed. City's now where Rogers probably should have put it in the first place.

I am unsure what kind of cash you believe Blue Ant Media has at its disposal, but it's nowhere near enough to rid Corus of their debt. Corus may be in the crapper, but Blue Ant wouldn't be far behind.

Oh that's too bad. I thought Thunderbird Entertainment was doing so well too.

Purchase price was $89 million with $0 debt, so yes, pretty good.
Corus was at least $700M in debt before their last recapitalization

That's the company as a whole, not bits and pieces. ie Quebecor maybe only wanting Global, with allowance to not be responsible for the FULL debt.
It's hard to say what is going to happen, or who will end up with Global...and who will get the rest of the properties.
Those businesses showing interest in Corus properties most likely will end up sharing the debt in some creative fashion... (Maybe Blue ant will only want Teletoon or sources that support their new Thunderbird investment)
