I need something new and fluffy to watch so after reading these posts about Tracker I had to see what it was all about. It IS goodish. A not unattractive main character with the charm, grin and looks of Ben Affleck, emotional payoff every episode, semi-witty quips and affectionate banter between co-stars and a fair amount of risk and physical action. It's like an oddball mix of maybe Magnum PI, MacGyver?, and another popular show... I can't quite figure out which one??? πŸ“ΊπŸ€”

The Tracker trailer is posted above in case you're curious. Depending on how the Leafs perform in the next month, some alternative programs might come in handy. πŸ™πŸ’

I have never responded to this user because he's essentially been bitching about me ever since he joined the board and I generally make it a rule not to respond to trolls, since it only encourages them. But I will make an exception in this one case.

I have the solution for him - don't post here. Don't read the messages. Don't bring your extreme politics here. In fact, I will help you do it. Thanks for your input. It is also your output. I've had enough being attacked unfairly and for no reason for months and months on end. This is supposed to be a fun little board about radio, not an insult pen and I often put in as much as 8 hours a day doing this. (In fact, I pay to keep the board ad free, so it actually costs me money - more than $300 U.S. annually.)

Have a nice life. Hopefully, somewhere else.Β

To everyone else: please forgive this rant. This is only the third person I've ever banned from here in almost a decade. Trust me, it is a last resort and I rarely if ever use this tool. But enough is enough, already.Β

RA to me this doesn't come across as a rant, rather a reminder of the reason for the common sense guidelines everyone generally plays by when we post on here as well as the consequences for disregarding basic big yellow board good manners, flexible tho they may be.

I wonder if by cancelling the show and bringing it back twice the network was trying to get the best deal possible at the time. The words "negotiating with Sony" in the TV Ratings Guide article could be a clue, so perhaps it's really just creative accounting by CBS. Cancel the show, cancel the current contracts. Resurrect the show. Write new contracts.

When I was little I loved Emergency!, the Interns, the Mod Squad, the Monkees tv show, the Bugs Bunny/Roadrunner Show, the Wonderful World of Disney every Sunday evening, the Carol Burnett Show, Get Smart, as much Star Trek as humanly possible and Saturday nights it was Hockey Night In Canada. My brother and I would sit down in the family room with our parents and a couple of bowls of freshly made popcorn and glasses of Coke and watch and cheer on the Habs.

As a teenager I discovered Monty Python's Flying Circus, The Bionic Woman, Saturday Night Live, All Creatures Great and Small, the Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, the Two Ronnie's, more Star Trek.

there's something to be said for "regular" television that you don't get with a streaming service: the joy of flipping around the channels on a Sunday afternoon, discovering a favorite movie like Jaws, The Untouchables or Aliens has just started, which of course inspires you to immediately forget about everything you had planned to do, and drop into the sofa to watch said movie...

It's not just the tragedy of the lives taken, and the lifelong pain of the families who lost loved ones in such a violent way. The OJ murder trial has been cited as the reason most of the daily television network soap operas, beloved by housewives, college students and those taking a sick day off work, were shelved and eventually died off.

I only hope we don't end up with an "edgy" biographical movie on his life.

Heaven has not gained another angel.

I enjoy listening to Dan Riskin when he’s a guest on 1010. He’s their science go-to who has a deep interest in bats. Good natured, well informed guest with a sense of humour!

Agree, he's always interesting and makes whatever he's talking about relatable. I also enjoy Carmi Levy who has a knack for explaining how data theft and other tech stories can actually impact the listeners.

You'd think 1010 would be smart enough to put together regular promo spots for both Dan and Carmi. CFRB could sprinkle the promos in and brighten up those unwieldy and ginormous commercial islands. Make it a real feature with a catchy tagline.

I enjoy Maureen Holloway as well.

I've seen Josie Dye make guest appearances on various Bell shows and with her charm and brains think she'd be a natural on 1010 for not only guest appearances on pop culture stories but also parenting and other topics. Perhaps even as a pundit on one of the roundtable discussions. There's a huge gap at 1010 when it comes to younger listeners and the crossover from the CHUM audience could only help 1010.

Another side to the eclipse is what could happen (physical crimes like robbery, cyber attacks etc.) during the event while a good portion of the public and media is distracted.

The thieves who pulled off the recent L.A. money heist took advantage of the Easter holiday.

I've read my fair share of murder mysteries and am guilty of having a vivid imagination but I'd be surprised if there aren't at least a handful of incidents.

After listening to the weather expert on MITM this morning tell John we shouldn't count on clear skies for Monday's eclipse, I'm mildly interested.

What should be interesting is all the news coverage and twitter posts from people who made the effort and traveled to the "zone of totality" and the stories they'll tell about the traffic jams, uncivil behavior and mild to major hiccups that can occur when large groups of humans congregate.

I needed to know if I was moore or leslie right, I was close, in the Lethal Weapon definition of the word, it was mid-mornings.

https://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/leslie-roberts-to-leave-cjad

A group of experts, sociologists, psychologists etc. should make a study of why some people, for example Avery Haines, eventually recover and regain their careers and why others don't, and has social media made it almost impossible to get past a very public scandal.

Global News's anchor Leslie Roberts comes to mind immediately. After that huge scandal that saw him leave, he did eventually return to anchor CTV from what I recall.

I also believe he had a good run doing the morning show on the Montreal sister station to CFRB (and one of the radio station's I grew up listening to) CJAD, this is going back a while ago, Leslie and John Moore used to do on-air segments together.

Wonder if Mike Stafford could ever return to radio.

It's not like there's a huge pool of on-air talent out there... well, that the people who helm the broadcast corporations seem to be able to find and develop.

will definitely check this out RA, sounds fun.

This afternoon I went to YouTube and did a search for April Fools' Day radio pranks, just for my own entertainment, but this one is well executed, and over the top and too good not to share. It's a clip of an Australian radio station disc jockey having a meltdown, swearing and quitting in front of coworkers while live on-air.

Happy Easter weekend and April Fools' Day and please God don't let John Moore returning to MITM tomorrow morning turn out to be a prank!

Super article, thanks RA.

I've been watching a bunch of The Outer Limits episodes that are posted on YouTube, man they really were well done and creepy as hell at times.

Star Trek is comfort food. Fringe is excellent, and worth hunting down. And Battlestar Galactica is aging gracefully too. I liked Orphan Black.

Yesterday I saw the trailer for the new Disney version of Dr.Who and it looks like it might be goodish. I like the new doctor.

Listening to CFRA Ottawa and the Bill Carroll show just now on a Mooreless Monday morning, I heard a new (to me) Spence Diamond ad. It's supposed to be a phone? conversation between a young woman and Fiona about the low cost of diamonds etc. but the read the young woman gave the copy was so bad, plastic and flat she made Fiona sound good.

I know two-part spots can sound disjointed if recorded individually, but I'd swear Spence used AI for the young woman.

Perhaps it's possible to get that wooden a performance from a human. Has anyone else heard the ad? Is she faux real?
