SOWNY » Election Fun Time: Who Will Win? Minority or Majority? » April 23, 2025 2:05 pm

In my "old age", I'm not very political but here are my two cents.

If the CPC is running an ad with 2 old white golfers and another with former PM Harper then they are in trouble. That's marketing to your base and not going after swing voters.

I will say a very substantial Liberal majority though my heart is with the NDP.

I'll be flipping around the channels and looking at results on the Elections Canada website.

According to what I found, only around 5% of the province’s total population might be considered actively practicing Roman Catholics. Does that mean the story should be top of the news? I don't think so.

SOWNY » Liberals want to nearly double CBC funding » February 21, 2025 1:29 pm

I try and not get political, however, I will say that the high speed rail line, CBC funding and whatever the PM comes up in the next two weeks is dead in the water. The new Liberal leader will become PM and an election called. Trudeau is grasping for a political legacy that he should planned for years ago.

SOWNY » Tournament of Champions: A Food Network Canada Exclusive » February 20, 2025 10:50 am

Previously, I've mentioned that a number of American made, Food Network programs continued to be shown on the new Flavour channel owned by Corus. Beat Booby Flay, Guy's Grocery Games and Dinners, Drive-ins and Dives being three I know of. Well, that seems to be changing. Tournament of Champions, "the Superbowl of food competitions", can on cable only be found on Rogers. It's a show that airs once a year after the NFL season ends. If you want to watch it, there are just two options available that I know of. One, subscribe to Rogers or stream Discovery +. As a Bell subscriber, I'm doing the later. In my area of Toronto, Bell Fibe internet is vastly superior to the Rogers offering and that is my number criteria when picking a phone/TV/Internet provider.

SOWNY » What Was The First LP Album You Purchased? » February 13, 2025 12:12 pm

I owned a few singles as a kid because they were cheap and my parents paid for them on occasion.

The first LP I bought with my own money was a New World Record by the Electric Light Orchestra.

It started a life long interest in ELO. I went to three of their concerts. The best was in 2016 when my wife and I were on vacation in the Netherlands. We splurged for row 8 tickets. It was a blast!

SOWNY » Are you guys watching the big game? » February 9, 2025 11:07 am

Yes, I will be watching. My food selections are simple. Potato chips for a snack. The main course is a fresh pizza made on my Piezano pizza oven. Left Field IPAs to wash it down.

He'll remain PM and Liberal leader until a new leader is chosen. He has discontinued the current session of Parliament without dissolving it until March 24th. This is controversial, however, it has been done from time to time by other Prime Ministers -- both Conservative and Liberal.

SOWNY » Corus Officially Launches 2 Cable Stns. Replacing Those Lost To Rogers » January 2, 2025 10:48 am

I'm still trying to figure out what's going on with the Bell Fibe and the Food Network programs.

I watch Guy's Grocery Games and Beat Booby Flay. They are definitely Food Network properties yet they continue to be available on Flavour.

I read somewhere else that Roger's version of Food Network Canada launched on January 1st so why is Flavour broadcasting these shows?

I have the Discovery + app (Roku & Android) so it doesn't affect me but I'm curious as to why there are no changes. Do you have any ideas?
