Unfortunately, they do cut landlines for missing a single payment. It may be the policy for landlines.

This same situation happened to me about 18 years ago. Could only dial 911 and incoming calls.

As rapacious and callous as Bell might be they have still not gone as far as Rogers did which is why I switched over to Bell.
The last straw for me with Rogers was when I went traveling a few years back and when I came home my phone was not working.
It was a land line which I still have.
Anyway when I called Rogers I was told they had rendered my phone incapable of making phone calls except for 911, but I could receive incoming calls.
This was because I missed ONE PAYMENT on my phone bill.
I had been travelling for about a month.
So I called Bell and asked them what would be involved in switching over..
They did it for free.
I told the person I was dealing with why I was switching and she said something like, "Oh, Bell would never cut off your phone just for missing one payment."
So far that has proven true.
I have missed a payment with Bell and I got a polite email saying so and thanking me if I had already made the payment.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Rogers Ignite land line today does not get disconnected for missing only one payment.

I'd like to hope you shouldn't laugh.

Here's why:

After listening to some of 530AM digital AM here, I'm convinced the sound quality allows for continued use of the band.

Very strange.  "Personality coming soon"  https://flow987.com/personalities/geena-lee/

VX3 Exchange is now helping operate the station.

The same group operates Vibe 105.5 York University.

Perhaps staff will 'flow' from 105.5 to 98.7?

CFMU & C101 are not rated. I'm just curious as to the listenership.

Both are campus/community stations in Hamilton. They aren't charted but I tune in often. It's variety and open format as to not bore me with the same tracks.

(I'm always curious as to the number, not matter how small as I am an on-air programmer/host at CFMU. We don't really advertise in any great way, so the numbers aren't super helpful)

Hamilton's CFMU 93.3 at McMaster University is funded by students AND the community at large (by way of on-air fund drive and usually an event in the community).

A lot of campus/community stations do on-air funding drives.

Even JazzFM 91.1 does so.

Is there anything on 93.5 HD2 currently? (Or just main 93.5 HD1 without additional HD programing?)

I'm in Hamilton, so it's fringe coverage here and HD is spotty at best so I can't confirm)

Since the cheapness and unprofessionalism really shows, they should roll the weather reading to the main host in the evening, making it a live casting instead.

Station reception is fair at best, surprising as I'm on Hamilton mountain.

Was hearing WHKW Ohio faintly on occasion in the background during the talking portion of the CFÀJ programming when I tuned in.

AM HD can also work. CHLO 530 is doing it. Sounds great from where I tune in Hamilton. (I'm old enough to have heard AM stereo when I was young, so HD is the next stereo step up for AM in my opinion)

It's weird as I'm in Hamilton and get both 92.9 and 88.5, both with the same programming.

I guess I should check to see if there's anything Grimsby originated on 88.5 website.

I'm curious which frequency comes in clearer where you are? I thought part of Durham's logic was for 88.5 to reach the areas that 92.9 didn't clearly reach. I remember there were parts of Hamilton (Downtown and East End) that 92.9 would have poor reception.

Typically, 92.9 has greater coverage. 88.5 is spotty.

I'm on central Hamilton mountain (near limeridge mall) and I can regularly receive North York's 158 watt CHRY Vibe105 in the car (although with static, more times than not, but listenable).

Occasionally, a Christian station on the same frequency will override it (also static filled)

Combination of music hosted in stations servers and us programmer/DJ types bringing in our own music.

However, even just a rolling display of the current show name would be awesome if achievable. Will bring this up at the next station meeting this fall.

The simulcast/syndication, this is the 'synergies' that Durham radio proposed. Didn't think it included this type of dual programming over two stations during drive times and such. At the same time, it is a great way to operate a limited signal on a budget.

CFMU 93.3 McMaster Campus Community Radio has finally added RDS to their signal.

The upgrade makes me happy that people will more easily be able to identify the station (if their display allows it)

As a current programmer & volunteer, I'll have to ask/suggest that it somehow displays our 'current playing' program. Right now, it appears generic with it currently displaying 'You are listening to CFMU, McMaste'

What a great story! Thanks for the share.

I currently host a weekend overnight hip-hop radio show and it's always nice to hear about the pioneers 'in tha game' that started blazing a trail long before myself.

Of a note local note, in that same general time period, CKLN was just starting to make waves with rap/hip-hop. DJ Ron Nelson was our pioneer, our godfather of hip-hop.
