December 30 has come and so have two new Corus owned networks, designed to replace the pair they lost when Rogers took the rights away from them.
The first, Home Network, is the replacement for HGTV. It consists of the usual home improvement and renovation shows that viewers used to watch on the lost channel.
Flavour is the alternate for Food Network, whose loss clearly left a bad taste in the mouth of Corus executives. That will include the usual cooking shows and competitions, including moving a 12th season of Top Chef Canada exclusively to the newcomer.
The question now is whether there's room for two similarly themed stations in the same marketplace.
Even if you're not subscribed to the newcomers, if your system carries either one you'll soon be able to watch them. A two month free preview is coming on January 3rd, lasting until Feb. 28th. Their websites are up and running now.

We have Shaw satellite. They've introduced the two new channels that replace HGTV and Food Network. But they're also still showing the old channels too as a free preview.

Changed on Cogeco in Windsor. But no new Food Network or HGTV.

I have seen a few ads for Home Network but plenty for USA and Oxygen True Crime.

I know they're owned by Rogers, but I'm confused as to why they are replacing existing channels with new ones almost the same, but are continuing to offer the original two channels as well.

Both Home and Flavour have replaced HGTV and Food Network on their respective channels on my Bell Fibe. I couldn't find HGTV or Food Network (see Calhame's post above) in the Fibe guide but I did find a slew of new (and ridiculous) CTV channels:
CTV Laughs
CTV Gridlock
CTV Gets Real
CTV @home
TSN The Ocho
The Mightiest by CTV
Corner Gas Channel
Yes, an entire channel devoted to Dog River, SK.
Those are FAST channels they must also offer to Fibe customers. I am not with Fibe, and I don't see them in my guide.

I don't watch much TV, but I might watch that one.

Same with Quadro in Perth County. The rebranded channels are on there. But I don’t see the new Rogers Food Network and HGTV.

There will be a lot of customer confusion over this one as I don’t think Rogers got ahead of it. I have seen nothing from them explaining the changes except the email Calhame posted yesterday. Pretty sloppy stuff for major network changes Rogers.

You'll hear all about it when they launch their versions. In the meantime, they're not going to promote their new competition.

Writer Steve Faguy tries - and only partially succeeds - in making sense of the channel changes and who will be showing what.
The great Canadian specialty TV shuffle begins, but it’s not going well for you

That’s just the problem RadioAaron, Rogers launched their versions today and I haven’t heard squat. Only one other carrier besides Rogers is carrying HGTV and Food Network. I can get Home and Flavour networks from Corus no problem. Rogers dropped the ball on this one, which doesn’t surprise me.

My wife is pissed, it appears to be no more Home Town and Fixer Upper.
Where is the justice in that.

As long as we don't have to endure another episode from the House Hunters franchise ... but yes, my wife will miss Home Town and the couple in that show.

If Home Town is part of Magnolia Network, in Toronto, MN is on channel 89 on Rogers Ignite TV...ah....Xfinity.

Bell Fibe has Home on channel 1600 which was where HGTV used to be. And Flavour is on 1603 that Food had up until midnight. A lot of channels are on free preview right now. Didn't subscribe to either HGTV or Food Network, so I will give these two Corus knock offs a look this month.

I don't think you can call these channels knock-offs. Corus was programming HGTV on 1600 up until midnight. Corus is now programming Home Network in the same position. If anything is a knock off it is the Rogers version of HGTV as it is the new channel as of January 1 2025. Same with Flavour and Food.

Yeah, definitely didn't expect a soft launch. Maybe once the free preview officially starts and they're carried on other providers.

I'm still trying to figure out what's going on with the Bell Fibe and the Food Network programs.
I watch Guy's Grocery Games and Beat Booby Flay. They are definitely Food Network properties yet they continue to be available on Flavour.
I read somewhere else that Roger's version of Food Network Canada launched on January 1st so why is Flavour broadcasting these shows?
I have the Discovery + app (Roku & Android) so it doesn't affect me but I'm curious as to why there are no changes. Do you have any ideas?

Looks like Bell wants USA Network to succeed, if even at the expense of TSN programming:
For sports and pro wrestling fans, the following programs will be moving from TSN / TSN+ to USA Network (Canada) on January 1st.
AEW Collision (AEW (All Elite Wrestling)'s weekly Saturday program that previously required an extra subscription on TSN+ to watch most of these episodes, except for the Collision episodes filmed in Canada that were on TSN)
NASCAR Xfinity Series (NASCAR's second-tier series for team-contracted drivers & crews not yet promoted to the main Cup series, races were previously on TSN or TSN+)
note: AEW Dynamite (their primary Wednesday night program) and NASCAR Cup races will continue to be on TSN

Do you have any ideas?I don't know all the ins and outs but I'm of the understanding that Corus lost only the rights to the names of "HGTV" and "Food Network" but retained ownership of (some of the?) the programs. So...same shows, please meet newly-named channel.
I hope Flavour airs that Rachel Ray cooking show on Saturday mornings just like what the Food Network did. My mom loves watching Rachel Ray every Saturday morning.

I keep hearing commersials for Home network, Oxygen and USA network on Newstalk 1010 but nothing for the new rogers channels.
But, I was hoping rogers or bell would bring the TBS brand back into Canada.

The general will be if it was a Corus/Canadian produced show it will be on Flavor
If it was Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD)/US produced show then it will be on the new HGTV
There are some exceptions for shows that began airing in the fall of 2024 and repeats of some of the US based shows. The contract is either different for some of the US shows or they were licenced separately from the WBD content. For the time being the previous HGTV and Food Network programming is going to be spread over the now two competing channels.in each genre.

No idea, it's just branded "Magnolia Network".
