So Fresh 103.1 in London has started playing all Christmas music. CHYM 96.7 Kitchener/Waterloo is playing all Christmas as well. Magic 106.1 in Guelph is playing all Christmas 104.3 Fresh Radio in Kingston is playing all Christmas. But on Monday November 18th 98.1 CHFI Toronto will be turning on the switch to all Christmas music. But there is no word on Easy 101.3's website of when they will make the switch to Christmas music. So far Move 105.7 in Niagara is still playing regular music. 104.7 Heart FM is also playing regular music as well, same with their HD2 format. 105.1 The River in Niagara Falls and Lite 92.1 in Brantford is also playing their regular music as well. But when will Easy 101.3 make the switch?

Thank you for this. Now I know which stations to avoid for the next six to eight weeks.

Seconded. 😁
Especially McCartney's 'Wonderful Christmastime'.

The Christmas format used to also be a handy way to change format.
Drop the current format. Go ALL Christmas, then on Boxing day...surprise! New radio station!
I wonder if we will see this happen anywhere this year...?

There's at least one

Just as a matter of interest, on Friday, at least 85 iHeart stations in the U.S. all flipped to Christmas music at the same time.

Nearest iHeartMedia one is 100.3 WNIC Detroit which can be heard in Windsor since it's close to Detroit.

December 26th can't come soon enough. Call me a scrooge. I only listen to a limited amount of Christmas music on December 24th and 25th. Boxing Day back to normal please.

Someone told me on the Digital Home forum that all of the "Move" radio stations including CHRE 105.7 Niagara will flip to All Christmas music Friday morning. But still no word if Easy 101.3 will do the same thing.

I think Rogers may have forgotten that they bought it.

Big 101.1 in Barrie seemed to be all Xmas rock when I was up that way a day or two ago...

Or Marshmello World which was originally recorded by Bing Crosby in 1950 but there are numerous versions by other artists. I cringe and my teeth start to ache when I hear any version of this saccharin sweet tune. Technically, it isn't even a Christmas song because the holiday is never mentioned in the lyrics.

'Marshmallow World' by Dean Martin, along with his version of 'Let It Snow' always were tolerable to me. They also struck me as having been recorded when he had a few. 😁
I mentioned in a different thread that it was only in the last few years that I had heard the Waitresses 'Christmas Wrapping'. Another contributor observed that I obviously hadn't worked retail.

Ha.
They remembered they bought it long enough to sell it.

When it was locally owned I used to listen to CKOT all the time. No longer since the new owners changed the programming.
It has a fairly new tower, I wonder why Rogers sold it.
Now will 101.3 become a My FM repeater?
Offline
No. It will not be a myFM repeater. Both stations will operate under their own brands.

As these discussions usually take a bit of time, Rogers may have opted not to do the Xmas switch this year.
Pure speculation on my part but maybe Rogers is looking at another cluster in the South Western Ontario area: Blackburn or vice versa Blackburn is looking at 102.3 Seems odd that Rogers would create a London/Tillsonburg radio cluster (at last studio-wise) only to dismantle it. The single London radio property sticks out like a sore thumb.

So if Blackburn accquired CHST-FM would it branded as COOL 102.3 just like the COOL stations in Sarnia, Wingham and Chatham? 98.1 would keep the Classic Rock format and 102.3 would still maintain the Classic Hits format.

Except for Kim Stockwood's version (which coincidentally is Can-Con) where she adds in Merry Christmas near the end.

This album must be really weird. I did a search and nothing relevant shows up.
It's just a parody cover and not real. "Fuxleyland" is a fictional label, if you search that you'll see some other comedic artist rendering covers like this one.

Here's one that seems like a parody but was actually real. Needless to say it never made it to the public and was kiboshed long before anyone ever saw it.
It was an ad an agency dreamed up in 1995, when ABC did a much hyped documentary on The Beatles, around the time "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love" came out as "new" Beatle songs. George Harrison was still alive then.
It was meant to go on the back of a bus. But it was in such bad taste that thankfully smarter minds realized it before it was released and no one ever saw it.
One of my all time favourite "what were they thinking" moments.
