Now that the concerts are here, perhaps the most irritating and self-serving thing I've heard isn't the fan reactions, the coverage of the security or the stories about TTC service expansion while she's here.
The most annoying thing about this is forcing all 680 News Radio anchors and reporters to repeatedly and endlessly tell listeners every time the story is mentioned that it's "Presented by Rogers." Look I get it. Their name is all over this thing and they want to get their money's worth. But really, does it need to be emphasized almost every time it's mentioned on air?
It truly is going to be a long few weeks.

That’s Rogers for you, not knowing when to back off.

I suppose Swifties get there money's worth. I believe the concerts run around three hours.

Deb Hutton mentioned today that she's going to Taylor's concert tonight with her daughters. And she made a point of saying she paid for the tickets. I guess someone she knows has a box at the venue so we'll all be getting a first hand review of the experience tomorrow afternoon.
I need to hunt down the story they teased on the 1010/CTV crossover chat on the afternoon drive show about the couple who are getting a divorce and are fighting about what to do with their two tickets for an upcoming TS concert. The judge gave them three choices and I'm curious about the outcome.
Imagine how much media coverage we'd be inundated with if, er, when! the Toronto Maple Leafs make it to the Stanley Cup finals!
Make it to the Stanley Cup Finals? How about if/when they win more than one playoff series in a season.

Considering it was a different time with much less Media around, the Beatles probably had wall to wall coverage when they arrived in Toronto in 1964.

I don't begrudge Rogers at all reminding listeners that the shows are presented by them. Rogers took the plunge, spent boatloads of cash, and are entitled to any rewards or name recognition. To have news people mentioning this at the end of a story on the show has two purposes. Acknowledging that their parent company is sponsoring the show, sort of being up front about it, and getting some name recognition.
Sort of like when CTV does any story about Bell and reminding viewers that Bell is the parent company of CTV.
If they didn't do this, I can guarantee that some on SOWNY would be wailing about how Bell or Rogers "weasled" another story about themselves on their newscasts. Sometimes you can't win for trying with some people...

It doesn't fit into the copy and sounds like a blatant commercial, which it is.
The script goes something like this: "The concert the city has been waiting for is here! The Taylor Swift Eras Tour, presented by Rogers, has finally come to the Rogers Centre." etc. etc. Now multiply that by reams of copy repeated over and over and over again for hours and days at a time, and it becomes a bit much.
They already have their name plastered not only on all the plethora of publicity posters and signs that are everywhere, but the concert is at the frigging Rogers Centre, for God's sake. I don't think anyone believes Bell is behind this by now.
I get it - it's Rogers, Rogers, Rogers! Enough already. It's overkill and they don't need to say it every single time there's even a slight reference to it. I'm sure they've already more than gotten their money's worth with this overly bloated concert. It makes them sound greedy and pandering. Sure, they should take advantage of sponsoring a big deal - but not every single minute of the day. And at the very least, keep your advertising out of your newscasts. They have to be separate if you hope to preserve any credibility.
I find Rogers is often guilty of this, more than any other company I can think of. They overly promote themselves on everything until it becomes too much. The repetitive message it sends is "we care about us, not about you." As a result, they often look like the greedy shilling hucksters many think they are.
This post brought to you by Rogers, who want you to say their name ad infinitum. With an accent on the "ad".

Rogers that!

Well, The Taylor Swift Eras Tour, presented by Rogers is likely the official name. Other companies like Bell may not say it that way, but Rogers can and they do. Still don't see the big issue. 99% of people listening could care less. Just media people with petty grievances would be the ones who really get their potatoes boiled over something as trivial as this.
Also interesting that John Krasinski, who starred in that Taylor Swift cottage country boat commercial which Rogers played a fair bit last summer was voted People magazine's most handsome man in the world. I remember quite a few either hated or liked that commercial when it was on TV. At least the ad was talked about, so it did the job.

"You cannot mention your brand name too many times."
- Some marketing consultant, probably.

I don't know Taylor Swift from Jonathan Swift, but you can't deny her popularity.
