WYSL Finds A Way To Get Coverage Boost

No, it's not that WYSL, the one that used to be in Buffalo. It's a station located near Rochester that I've received many times via DXing at 1040 on the dial. It's just expanded its coverage range, thanks to the discovery that stations it was protecting are no longer in existence.

An interesting story about a station you may have passed by on your dial at night over the years, but may now may be just a little more powerful - if you can somehow null out CHUM.

One of the stations it was protecting might have been 1050 WYBG in Massena, NY. It has been silent since June 30, 2015. I wonder what the others were.

1040 in St Constant Quebec and 1040 in Everett PA come to mind as possibilities. I have them in my logbook as deleted (ie., I heard them but now they're silent). I wonder if it will impact CHUM during the day or 'critical hours'. Certainly if they used IBOC it wouldn't be good for CHUM

Doesn't CHUM send their signal north and east at night? Growing up in Oakville, CHUM at night got interference from WHO and KYW.
