Gee thanks markow 202, you just jinxed us. Like saying "oh look the pitcher has a no hitter going." Guess what happens next.

Judging by our 'Meteorologist''s records, it's a toss-up versus the rodent.

Ya, if I see my shadow tomorrow, it means 6 more weeks of diet...

Last year Pawxatawny Phil predicted 6 more weeks of winter while Wiarton Willie predicted an early spring. I'm fairly certain at least one of them was right.

We've been in Florida for the past month. The weather here has been awful. Cloudy, cold, windy, rainy and stormy. They call Florida the sunshine state and it usually is. But not this year.
One evening this week, our local Tampa Bay news reported that Maple Creek Sask had been warmer that day than Tampa.
Tampa - 62 deg
Maple Creek - 70 deg
They say it's due to El Neno.

Even as a child, this Groundhog Day thing made no sense and always felt backward to me. If whichever groundhog sees its shadow, that means the sun is out and that means more winter? Shouldn't the sun being out mean we're closer to spring?
Sidebar - I saw a piece earlier this week that Punxsutawey was considering doing away with the rodent and moving to a coin toss. I can't recall if this was due to PETA pressure or some other force but what a lame suggestion - Heads more winter, Tails early spring? Yeesh.

Jessica Smith's appearance on CTV's Friday show marks only the first time in 9 weekdays they've had an actual weather person on their newscasts.

Not if the lighting people did their jobs right!

And in other news, sources are wondering if 1010's PD saw his shadow and will listeners have to patiently/impatiently weather another eight weeks of roundtable pundits filling in every afternoon on The Rush before Newstalk finally announces the new permanent host.
