Right on time my phone went off. I press ok to acknowledge receipt of the message and my phone goes back to normal. My tv is filled full screen for almost two minutes with the English AND French notifications. No way to acknowledge receipt of the message. Why is it necessary to interrupt a program with this. The message could very easily have been sent with a one quarter screen scroll, easily readable, yet not interrupting the viewers program. Not impressed.

Did anyone else cringe during the French announcement?
I don't speak French but even I found it pretty obvious that it was an anglo text to speech reader trying to make sense of the French text. It was awful.

It worked on my phone, but I was watching Game Show Network at the time, and the alert did not interrupt Deal or No Deal.
My name is Bob, and I'm a game show addict.

I was swapping out some light switches - live of course - it was a wonderful jolt with my cell phone in my shirt pocket.

Silence this alert on your phone by visiting
grapheneos.org and downloading the link on the page into your phone.
How to silence the TV? You're on your own...

Great idea. Why would anyone need an alert specifically designed to warn you of a life threatening situation? Interrupt my nap? I’d rather be dead!

There's never a life threatening situation. Just some kid in Tim Buck two missing, found in Tim Buck 3. Nowhere near me. (EVER)
I am in Toronto. CP 24 is all I need to be informed of a "life threatening situation". Especially a weather report.

I'm always informed in other ways.

You sound absolutely amazing.
For the rest of us who get news without telepathy the alerts could come in handy in an emergency.

Same crap different day. No telepathy needed. Stop crying wolf.
time to go back to the drawing board... Good luck!
The Amber/emergency alert system is a cry wolf service and nothing more.

I agree. The system was designed to have several levels of alerts, but they instead decided to push everything through the highest "you're in immediate danger" setting. The predictable result is people trying to find workarounds to turn them off.
