The Music of Your Life/oldies station at 1440 AM is trying to make its mark in Buffalo, despite a relatively weak AM signal and a format that skews much older than most.
Now its owner is hoping to shake things up a bit by appointing a veteran Buffalo jock as its new program director. Not sure how many people remember the name Tony Venturoli, but if you were a listener to stations in the market in the past, you've probably heard him. I remember him from WGR-AM during its personality music days and his time on WHTT-FM.
Whether he can improve the fortunes of the station remains to be seen, but he certainly has the experience to try.

WEBR currently sits 20th with a 0.4 share. Can't see a new program director moving the ratings needle much if at all. Isn't the target demo of a "Music of Your Life" format mostly dead and buried now?

I think they've contemporized (is that a word?) the music somewhat and are playing what we consider more "oldies." I doubt it will help much in the numbers, though.

Especially given that WECK has cornered whatever's left of that market.

I heard them for a bit in the car last week and they played 3 songs from the 80's and 1 from the 70's. Just listened online for a few mins and about the same mix.Sounds more classic hits than music of your life or oldies. Right now they are playing Small Town by Mellencamp.

When they were an oldies station as WJJL, I would sometimes listen to them when visiting my parents in Oakville. The station had a deep playlist often focusing on songs that peaked below the top 20.
