The things you learn watching TV news

Heard just a minute ago on CTV Northern Ontario: There's a team in the World Jr. Hockey Championship from the country of Czeckia. It even beat Canada yesterday.

The CIA's World Factbook says that The Czech Republic =16pxadded the short-form name Czechia in 2016.

Okay, I embarrasedly admit that I have been put in my place.  I did not know that the Czech Republic now goes by Czechia.
I should have checked myself (no pun intended), but it sounded so bizarre and like a young anchor or reporter making such gaffes that are so often the topic of SOWNY posts.

It still sounds lame.  I won't accept it.  Like leaving one space after a period.

Don't feel bad RB - I also briefly questioned where the heck "Czechia" was when I first heard the score. But then I realized it was an old country with a new name. I learn a lot from this board so anything like this only makes me a bit smarter. Although God knows I've got a very long way to go!

The Czechia is in the mail.
