Re: CTV Toronto Weekend weather reporter signs off

Not sure how she'll feel about the term "girl" but I'm not entirely sorry to see her off the weather beat. She clearly wasn't comfortable there, was never in set and appeared to have no real wx. background. She was really there as a reporter and appeared to be plugged into that role because they had no one else. Half the time, she would throw to an entirely unrelated story she did and then, oh yeah, here's a quick look at the weather.

According to her Linked-In page, she's currently working for George Brown College as a fulltime "External Communications Specialist" whatever that is. She's been there for 3 months.

I've seen Jessica Smith, the new woman in the role, and she was quite good in her few appearances. I wish them both well - and that Santa brings CFTO an adequate number of weather people in the New Year.

Re: CTV Toronto Weekend weather reporter signs off

Jessica has been working out of CTV Kitchener now for a year or two. She is split between weather and feature reporter. Also she co hosts occasionally on news packages.

Kitchener seems to be a bit of a hostel for CTV personalities.  We see many come through here that stay for relative short periods and move on to larger markets in the network.  I would imagine for now Jessica will still be appearing locally since weekends at CFTO isn't full time.  Lindsay Morrison held down  weekends in Toronto but still remained in Kitchener.  Lindsay even did a bit of announcing on KW's Virgin Radio when she was here. She also came on the afternoon drive program with the regular announcer with a live chit chat to promo the evening news package on TV.

I wonder what Anwar Knight and Tom Brown are doing now. The Toy Mountain segments seem much more low key without Tom.

External Communications Specialist sounds like a snazzy term for receptionist. Turns out it's not.
