I'm a Radio Head, although it has nothing to do with the band of the same name!

I would argue that programmers no longer target the first 4.
News and sports? They can get that on their phone.
Announcers? Voiced tracked. Or when they are live they need to shut up within 30 seconds even if the content is good. Or worse, no voice tracks at all.
New music? That's scary. Let's not play a new release by one of our core artists until someone else plays it first.
We're the only industry I can think of that caters to the people who like us the least.

Agreed. I would say that 5 and 6 probably make up the bulk of most terrestrial stations' audiences.

3&5 for me

I am probably a combination of 2, 3 and 5. In the car, a lot of news or talk radio. At home, particularly when housecleaning it is always music via Sonos. At work, music via my smartphone.

I would be mostly 3 with a little of 5.

The only place I listen to radio these days is in the car and that doesn't happen as often as it used to. I'd fall into the informaniac category.
Even then it's not for the traffic reports. I always have the GPS on my phone set for my destination (especially when I'm heading to Toronto) and it has always alerted me (and rerouted me) to traffic issues before the traffic reports.
I haven't listened to music on the Radio in a couple of years since I got a new (to me) car a couple of years ago with a USB port I could plug a memory stick into. If I want tunes, I flip to that and enjoy a universe (at the moment) of about 1300 songs -- all of which I like. I put it in shuffle mode and skip over whatever I'm not in the mood for at that moment.

Pre pandemic I was an absolute Radio Head, but am now a ptsd Radio Head, I listen to talk radio for a few breaks, and then change the station. If music radio widened their playlist and went back to playing depth cuts I might be tempted to listen...
I'm still a TSN 1050 Radio Head.
