CFRB Corrections

In a post in January of 2020 it was stated that "around 1985 Allan Slaight imported Peter Shurman from CJAD in Montreal to become President of the Radio Division of Standard." In fact Peter Shurman was in Toronto in 1983 as President-in-waiting and then President of the Radio division after Don Hartford had retired. Ralph Lucas was asked to move to Toronto from CJAD in Montreal taking up duties as VP-Programming  in May of 1985. Allan Slaight did not emerge as the new owner of Standard Broadcasting until late in 1985. Lucas had worked at 'RB in the late 1960s and early 1970s and had been one of Wally Crowder's operators. Crowder didn't like the fact that some 12 or 13 years later Lucas had become his boss. It's an almost classic case of one person doing a job for 45 years and thinking they have 45-years experience, while another has spent time as a writer then senior writer in advertising, a news director, a top-rated afternoon drive announcer, program director, VP of Programming and then VP & Manager having successfully turned around two failing radio stations. CFRB returned to its #1 position in Toronto in the Fall 1987 ratings, the programming unchanged following Lucas' resignation shortly before the rating period started. Hope this sets the record straight.

Re: CFRB Corrections

Is Wally Crowder any relation to former Boston Bruins NHLers Keith Crowder or Bruce Crowder?

Re: CFRB Corrections

So CFRB never should have gotten rid of the music?

His last name was spelled Crouter, so no.
