This is interesting, My thoughts are Rogers will keep the station on the air until the new owners want the towers gone, then tell the CRTC they had no other option but to shut down the station.

Here's some ideas for rogers.
1: Keep sportsnet 590 on the air.
2: if they won't do that, have sportsnet 590 be an hd radio only format/online only format.
3: Swich kiss 92.5 to an all-sports format if the crtc will let them, move kiss's format to an hd subchannel, and CHFI will keep its format.
4: If they shut 590 down, swich 680 to a news/talk/sports format.

It's possible Rogers could sell the property, collect the cash and then lease it back for as long as they need to use it for 590, if they weren't going to the bother of taking the diplex route.
I wonder whether the soil is suitable for tender fruit crops? Could it be set up so that crops could be grown while still operating as a transmission site?
The first thing that came to mind for me is that I would imagine a property like that one is highly in demand already for a future greenhouse operation, particularly in light of the trade and tariffs war.

It doesn't work that way

It's not the CJCL 590 site.  CJCL has nine towers. It's AM 640 (Corus), and actually old news.

Actually the 640 site's the one with nine towers. It's also a few k southwest on the escarpment near Smithville.

There are 120 ground radials buried about six inches deep around each tower. There radials will be about 390 feet long generally 1/4 of the wavelength of the station's frequency. This precludes tilling and crop growing. You might be able to use it a pasture.

640 is eight towers (4 x 2) below the escarpment and just south of the QEW in Beamsville.

590 is nine towere (3 x 3) up on the escarpment.

So what would happen to 640 if the land sells? Would it go silent?

Yes, I am mistaken. The 9 array makes more sense for 590 since it needs to protect 610.
This sent me down a rabbit hole. The-then CFGM had grief from local NIMBYs who didn't want radio towers in their area... some actually claiming it would affect crops! The move was approved in 1986, then was appealed to cabinet, then approved again in 1987. (Archived decision here.) The CRTC pointed out that CKEY and CFTR were already operating from Niagara with little impact.
