Stephen Ledrew fired from CP24

Re: Stephen Ledrew fired from CP24

Does this mean he can now go back on Fox after all to tell his story? They asked him to return and fearing the consequences, he said no. Now there's no leash to stop him.

Other than Joe, do we actually know that he was fired, and didn’t throw his arms in the air and quit.

I honestly have no idea, I’m just wondering.

With Kathleen Wynne about to fight for her life, I can think of more lucrative places for him to camp out for at least a year or so.

Re: Stephen Ledrew fired from CP24

Why isn't CP24 simply simulcasting CTV Toronto's noon news in the first place anyway?

Re: Stephen Ledrew fired from CP24

That's what they should be doing. CP24's current noon hour is insanely boring.

About time. He was a clueless interviewer.

Re: Stephen Ledrew fired from CP24

I don't know how many remember that he used to do a show on CFRB before hitting the tube. They might take him back as a Round Table guest, or has he burned that bridge because that's also owned by Bell?

"parting ways" -- sure.
Not to worry, they have a revolving door there -- how many times has Ann Rohmer left and returned?

Why? What did Anne do to cause any upset? That might be the difference.

Anne wasn't fired, she tried to change careers but came back a few months later.

LeDrew speaks out for the first time, giving his side of the story to the Sun's Joe Warmington.

LeDrew: “I guess I shouldn’t have giggled when CTV news told me that Fox was its competition."

They're really going with the competition excuse? CP24 is a local Canadian news channel. Fox News is a national American news channel. The latter barely has any distribution in this country.

Of course, this isn't the real reason but it's probably a useful legal pretext. I think the real reason is that LeDrew embarrassed himself and his employers by going on a bigtime American news channel to talk about a subject he knew nothing about and was too arrogant to do his homework ahead of time. Regardless of what you think of the Ontario government's sex ed curriculum or LGBT issues, it was clear LeDrew was out of his depth and had no idea what he was talking about. There's also his vaguely homophobic "neither fish nor fowl" remark that he pulled out of his ass because he had no idea what "two spirited" means but was too arrogant to just say "I don't know".

Hansa, I think you might well be right. So often he seemed out of his depth to me, and I think that this was another example.
