It's hard to believe that some people think a Beatle, of all people, could have come up with the most annoying Christmas record in history. But it's high on the list for a lot of people, who hope they manage to get through the next month or so without ever hearing it.
Good luck with that...
Is Paul McCartney's 'Wonderful Christmastime' simply… horrible?
What's your vote for the worst Xmas tune of all time?

That is also my least favourite Xmas tune. Has been for a very long time.
As much as I like the Christmas season, I find many of the songs we hear each year are tired old songs we’ve heard millions of times over the years. There’s been barely any new, original Xmas music in many years.

The Little Drummer Boy.
Who the hell made that piece of cringe crap up in the first place?
Sounds like pedophilia to me.

I was going to college in 1980 when “Wonderful Christmastime” was released and I could not stand it as being a keyboardist, I found the synth parts really cheesy. Fast forward to yesterday and I heard it for the first time this season and I didn’t smash the radio, in fact, it made me chuckle at its cheesiness, if that makes sense. Damn, I’m getting old and soft.
I vote “Last Christmas” by Wham! As the worst Christmas song of all time, and there’s no way I’ll change my opinion on that soggy sausage and “Fairytale of New York” is my favourite “modern” song (1988), swears and all!

It would probably take three pages to list all the Chistmas songs I loath and despise. Fortunately, I have been able to avoid the Holiday hits so far, with the exception of my trip to the dentist last week. They had CHFI on. Glad that the volume was low enough, it was barely audible while my teeth got cleaned.

The terrible McCartney song has the same effect on me as Spence commercials. I can’t turn it off fast enough.

With worst at the top of the list
Christmas Shoes - the title is enough to give me hives
close second Last Christmas
Wonderful Christmas Time - Once a season is enough
Never understood the hate for Little Drummer Boy
and I have to agree that Fairytale of New York is a modern Christmas classic.

From least favourite to most favourite.
Least favourite.
Santa baby, that new song by megan trainer called rap me up, wonderfull christmastime.
Most favourite.
O come all ye faithfull, o holy night, hark the harold angels sing, dominic the donky, rudolf the rednosed raindear, charly brown chrima songs, christmas in kilarny, tiha noc-silent night in croatian, the 12 days of a redneck christmas, and some of the songs that only star 102.5 played around here.
I forgot, ave maria.

McCartney's 'Wonderful Christmastime' is akin to Rudolph scratching a chalkboard with his hoof while his nose blinks uncontrollably...it's absolutely putrid...Sir Paul mailed it in to check the Christmas song box for his solo career.

I'm not familiar with "Christmas Shoes". A little Googling tells me it's religious-themed, which interests me even less. I'm pretty sure I'll never hear it, which is nice.

I thought I was the only one who did that with the Spence ads.

Overall, I have a very limited appetite for Christmas music, and what little I do listen to exclusively falls under the genres and sub-genres of rock (i.e Trans Siberian Orchestra) along with limited staples that suit my musical tastes that I find culturally fitting, such as Feliz Navidad by Jose Feliciano. There's probably not a single Christmas song that "grinds my gears" more than All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey. Personally, I have a cultural dislike for all music that commercializes the Christmas season, which is a sombre time of the year for me due to a tragic accident that happened in my home community at this very time of the year nine years ago.

My vote for the worst Christmas song of all time goes to a piece of crap called Macarena Christmas
It's done by the same two horny old bastards that did the original Macarena record
It's 4 minutes and two seconds of an aural assault on your hearing
Hey RA -- I dare you to post it here -- YouTube
I won't and refuse to do so

This has certainly topped a lot of lists as the worst Christmas song ever. ![]()

Apparently some folks think McCartney’s Christmas effort is actually pretty good. They seem to be in the minority.
Paul McCartney’s ‘Wonderful Christmastime’ is often called bad. Actually, it’s great

I don't care for some of the Christmas-lite cover versions I've heard over the years, though. (Straight No Chaser, I'm looking at you). It's not a song that requires a cover, IMO. It's slightly whimsical charm is best handled in the hands of Mr. McCartney, and no one else.

NewSong’s Christmas Shoes for the win.
Notable others…
Any version of I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas

Have to admit I've never heard this one.
Do you remember The Kinks' forgotten Christmas song?

As much as there's a few clinkers out there, I can't help but bob my head whenever Vince Guaraldi's 'Linus and Lucy' shows up. Strictly speaking, not a Christmas song, but often associated with the holiday.

That's a great album, A Charlie Brown Christmas. I particularly like the instrumental piece "Skating", which I guess technically is also not a Christmas song but has some great piano work too. One of my other favourites from that album is "My Little Drum", a nice quiet jazzy little tune loosely based on "The Little Drummer Boy".
