It's still early, but at least one source, People Magazine, claims the couple were allegedly stabbed by their own son, who sadly became a homeless drug addict, despite his family's fame. 

If that turns out to be true this awful story just got even more tragic.

Another sad ironic twist, Rob Reiner directed and his son Nick wrote the screenplay of a 2015 film called Being Charlie, the story of a young addict dealing with his struggles, having been in and out of rehab for many years. Talk about life imitating art.

Cops now confirm the son has been arrested and charged with this terrible crime. Bail is set at $4 million.

It only shows what most people already know about the content of  his character.     He sounds like a 12 year-old schoolyard bully not a mature adult.

James Woods, an outspoken Republican, had far more class.

That was not his name, but the nickname Archie gave him. The actual part he played was Michael Stivic. Somehow, no one I've seen doing this story has gotten it right yet. 

I've seen some posts in the past that have referred to his character as Michael 'Meathead' Stivic, which I think is fine, but yeah, 'Meathead' on its own sounds just wrong.

Reiner once remarked about how he had Norman Lear to thank for making that name stick, one that was passed on from Lear's father to the younger Lear. Reiner also joked that he could win the Nobel Prize, and headlines would read "Meathead wins the Nobel Prize."

Trump is way off base here. Reiner was allegedly murdered by his mentally unstable son who lived a life of booze and drugs. I doubt he has ever voted in his life. In fact he probably has no clue how or where to vote. A complete waste of space. Rob Reiner and I would never agree on much, if anything, politically. He was a decent human being and certainly didn't deserve to leave this world in such a violent manner.

Those who still support Trump are intellectually bereft, morally bankrupt and certainly not Christian nor are they legitimately adherent to any faith for that matter. 

This whole tragedy just made me think back to the deaths of Gene Hackman and his wife earlier this year. There are people that you just think don't deserve to die the way that they do, of course not just celebrities, but because Hackman and Reiner brought so much joy to millions of people for years, it especially feels unjust.

Meanwhile Trump, who has caused so much misery and chaos, victimized women and the poor for most of his life, will probably get to pass away in relative calm and serenity, surrounded by the best medical help that a corrupt president can get.
 

We now have some indication about what happened the night before the murders, when the accused and his parents were at a Christmas party thrown by Conan O'Brien. There was no hint of the violence to come, but Nick Reiner was definitely acting weird - and was finally asked to leave.

this update will not be a huge surprise and one can only imagine what the outcome might have been had Nick received different medical care and medication and if there's an investigation I hope knowledge can be gleaned and used to help other families going forward

sidebar: Rob Reiner did a charming job narrating the audiobook of The Princess Bride, available online on the Toronto Public library website using the Libby app. I'll be rewatching the movie over the holidays.

I have a feeling this will end in a lawsuit against the doctor and the pharmaceutical company.
