Her take on Ben M is spot on - another bad move by Corus

I'd love to read that but I don't have a threads account and never will. The link just gives me a blank page with the Threads logo. Is there another way to read that? Thanks.

She's all over social media. I'm not really a fan but she is good at pissing off the right people.

Ben has only been on Global's West Block for one week. I think he should be given a bit more time before writing him off as a biased host and poor choice for the job. Rachel comes across like she already decided she didn't like Mulroney as host.
His contributions to the conservative party shouldn't really be that big a surprise. His dad was a conservative prime minister and he grew up within the progressive conservative party. Also the contributions came before he got the job.
I think it would be naive to believe that no high level journalist has never contributed to the Liberals, NDP or other party. We can say that it isn't right, but likely happens more than many think. Gilmore says that Mulroney donated close to the maximum. Max contribution for an individual last election was $1,750.
Actually Ben being the host will put him under even more scrutiny and it will be interesting to see how he handles interviews with the current government and NDP. Even with no contributions to the conservatives, he would still be suspect in many circles because of family history and growing up as a conservative.
Ben still may end up being not the best host for a political program like the West Block simply because he often seems to have trouble getting his thoughts out clearly and gets wound up easily. I don't mind his radio show but at times he is hard to listen to when he doesn't clearly make a point and trips up talking too fast. On the plus side he has lots of contacts and will know some politicians from all parties on a more personal level which is not always a bad thing.

It wouldn't be so bad if Ben Mulroney hadn't been more openly politically partisan as an open mouth radio host. The fact that he's both from a prominent Tory family and now openly Conservative does away with any appearance of non-partisan no matter how neutral he tries to be while doing this gig.

I expected this from him, which is why I held him in little regard when he embarked on his media career.

I don't have a Threads account either and I can see the content fine. Maybe see if it's a pop-up/script blocker or try an alternate browser?

Thanks AspectRadio. Solved! The link didn't like my Firefox browser but it worked in MS Edge. As for Rachel's Thread rant, I couldn't agree more. In an earlier posting I mentioned that I stopped listening to 640 since just before the last election. Mulroney had the temerity to say that if you didn't vote for PeePee you were ignorant or words to that effect. Alex Pierson was also way too partisan for me so the decision to turn them off was not hard to do.
I wrote to Corus with my complaint and reasoning but received no response. I wonder why they are having difficulties... Hmmmm

Seems to me that Ben is at the top of his new game, which is not something one can say for Rachel Gilmore. Jealousy will get you nowhere, Rachel.
