Cousin Brucie On The 60th Anniversary Of The Beatles At Shea Stadium

It was 60 years ago Friday that the first big group played the first big sports stadium. You didn't have to be in New York City to remember The Beatles concert at a sold-out Shea Stadium.

In an interview with NPR, the now almost 90 year old(!) WABC radio legend Cousin Brucie recalls that show, what it meant for rock radio and the incredible story of what they had to go through to get their hands on the 45 issue of  "I Want To Hold Your Hand," during the crazy times of early Beatlemania.

A very detailed recap of the Beatles at Shea, from, of all places, Major League Baseball.

When the Beatles played at MLG, the prices per CHUM Charts were $4.50, $5.50 and $6.50. which is roughly what Leaf tickets cost back then. All to see them [hearing was not an option] perform 11-13 songs in 30 minutes.

My sister was at one of the MLG concerts in 1965. She remembers not being able to hear anything, because of all the screaming.

My favourite part of the article is the list of the opening acts. Did anyone hear anything they did?

Did Bill Murray The K act as emcee for the concert at Che Stadium?
