A Hit Streaming Show Unavailable To Viewers Here Comes To ABC Monday

It's called "Paradise" and up until now, you could only see it if you subscribed to Hulu - a streaming service not available in Canada. Now, like the series "Only Murders in the Building" with Steve Martin and Martin Short, this political and mystery drama is coming to network TV for free.

It airs on ABC Monday night at 10, and if it seems a tad familiar, it's the same network that showed the debut episode a few months ago to whet the public's appetite for more. Now they're showing the entire first season, and the show has received many critical raves.

Here's the logline:

"Paradise" centers around agent Xavier Collins (Sterling K. Brown of "This Is Us" fame), who lives in a community with powerful individuals. Everything changes when one of them is brutally murdered and Xavier becomes the prime suspect. Once he gets access to the investigation, Xavier discovers that the assassination is part of a conspiracy that reaches much deeper levels of the government."

Knowing it's not just a one-off but the full first year is perhaps a reason to tune in. If it's as entertaining as "Only Murders," has been, it could be worth a watch.

Paradise is on Disney Plus in Canada, as are some other shows that air on Hulu in the US.

Thanks. I had no idea. But if you don't have Disney, you can watch this for free.

Well Paradise bombed on ABC on Monday at 10pm.  The show only attracted 1.45 million viewers and a weak 2 share 18-49.  NBC also had a poor hour with the finale of something called The Hunting Party and only 2.02 million tuned in and a 2 share 18-49.  Is Monday prime time slowly turning into another write off evening for OTA TV stateside?

I, too, have noticed there's no longer much on Monday nights - formerly one of the better nights of the week in the early days of broadcast TV.

Along with Friday and Saturday, it's the only day I find I'm not DVRing anything. I'm giving Paradise a try, but have not watched it yet, although the critics have been kind to it for the most part. But other than that, Monday isn't a fun day on OTA TV and hasn't been for some time.

Perhaps, the majority of Monday viewers were watching one of the NCIS's on CBS.

The Hunting Party is not  a bad  show, it just finished the first season with a good cliff hanger. I also recorded Paradise, I will be watching the entire run. This week's episode of Son of a Critch was a poignant one for me. I had to take my mother years ago to a Dr. for the ' clock ' test as like happened with the Malcom Mcdowell character on SOAC. She pretty much did the same thing as Pop did, and within months I had to have her moved to a nursing home where she lived out her days with increasing dementia. My biggest fear now is it happening to me or my wife as we get older.

Re: A Hit Streaming Show Unavailable To Viewers Here Comes To ABC Monday

That is a very sad story, Mic'em. And I share your feelings.

I was the only member of my family available to take of my mother when she descended into the hell of dementia many years ago. I took care of her for 10 very long years, until it became impossible and she had to go into a home - the one thing she never wanted. But when I needed an operation and a brief hospital stay, I had no choice.

I look back on those days, though, not with sadness, but with some amount of pride. It was the most selfless thing I have ever done in my life. And now that she's gone, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

So don't feel guilty. I'm sure you did the best you could.

Now back to our regular radio chatter.

It has been running on CTV for a few weeks.   Watched it on Disney+ and we really liked it.

No NCIS was pre-empted by NCAA basketball and that's where the viewers were.  Over 18 million.watching and a 47 share 18-49.  http://www.thetvratingsguide.com/2025/04/monday-tv-ratings-4725-ncaa-basketball.html

Of course. March Madness!  What was I thinking? As Homer Simpson would say. DOH!

No excuses for Paradise this week on ABC.  The second week actually did worse than week one.  Only 1.40 million tuned in and the show had a tiny 2 share 18-49.  I wonder how the ratings are for CTV?  Paradise only has six more running on ABC/CTV for the 8 episode run.  US OTA ratings from TV Ratings Guide last Monday..http://www.thetvratingsguide.com/2025/04/monday-tv-ratings-41425-wnba-draft.html

Re: A Hit Streaming Show Unavailable To Viewers Here Comes To ABC Monday

Paradise is not the only ABC series in trouble. Last summer, the network heavily promoted the launch of Dr. Odyssey. The alphabet network created and produced the overly expensive series has not lived up to expectations. It has not been able to retain much of its 911 audience lead-in and remains on the cancellation bubble. I think ABC will decide to not let it reach its destination of a second season renewal. The approaching iceberg will let Dr. Odyssey quickly sink from viewers minds.

In light of both of these comments, this seems particularly timely.
