It's typical of human activity...hang on to things that worked in another era cause they are comfortable and nostalgic to you...AM radio has become a beacon for older generations and (especially in parts of the USA) a vessel to spew evangelical/religious and right-wing bullshit propaganda that caters to those over 65+...they remember AM radio as a key part of how they received and consumed entertainment and information...those days are gone and the ratings numbers don't lie...fewer are listening and even fewer of those people are under 55 years old...it's slowly but surely dying and nothing will stop the grim reaper from eventually showing up.

I did that job...I would suggest taking up finish carpentry before applying for that gig these days...pretty much any job at Corus for that matter...unless you're part of an outside legal/accounting/hr agency team that will oversee its inevitable bankruptcy/liquidation...if I sound bitter it's because I am...fuck Corus.

I like this idea too...the bullshit that can be spread to millions of people in a second without any proof points is palpable...for example, I now know for certain that cats and dogs and other pets are being eaten by Haitian immigrants in Ohio and that Viktor Orban, the Prime Minister of Hungary, is a real stand up guy thanks to Trump's participation in the last Presidential candidates debate!

When you shop for a new vehicle the specifications sheets on the OEM/company's websites should tell you which model/trim comes with SXM...or you can call any dealer and speak with a salesperson....just make sure you know the exact model and trim you are looking for to make things easier.

If you're on the left of the political spectrum the last thing you want is for Trump to die any time soon...personally these 'assassination attempts' don't pass the smell test to me, seem staged, and have been linked to right wing nut jobs with assault guns...Democrats want to see Trump alive so he can get thoroughly destroyed in the upcoming election, watch him claim it was rigged to add to the embarrassment, maybe cause another Jan 6 debacle and then see him go away forever, locked up in prison for the crimes he's guilty of....he needs to live for bit longer.

This is more common than listeners realize...when I was at MOJO 640/Q107/Edge the egos in the studio and halls were palpable...Derringer, Humble and Fred, Scruff, Krystal, etc., big time morning shows, seasoned news people and DJs...there was jealousy and paranoia all over the place and it was clear some folks couldn't care for others....they either avoided each other completely or if the had to co-exist, especially on-air for any amount of time, the uncomfortableness was clearly felt in the studio and over the air...I'm gonna go out on a short limb and speculate that Kelly thinks Oakley is a tool.
 

Not suggesting this was the case for Christine....but I do feel for women that cover sports as they age...men get a pass, you can see it in many broadcasts from a variety of sports networks...women (usually under 45 and are attractive) are the hosts and teleprompter readers with the talking heads and pundits being men, some are ex athletes...even the female ex athletes and reporters that come on as guests or panel members tend to be much younger and easy on the eyes...this is the reality and the perception of the audience tuning in...the vast majority of that audience are men who have no trouble telling a woman covering sports that she's not as smart a man covering the same beat, or that her hair and clothes look bad, she's getting chunky, or that she's getting long in the tooth...

As long as 24/7 Jesus Talk is around, especially in the mid-west and southern USA, AM/FM will be around to appease the religious radicals.

You're right. I don't have a clue about any of that stuff. But it seems odd that the manufacturers want to build a vehicle for a demographic that is such a tiny slice of the market.
 

That demo is the future of the auto market...and more importantly that type of in-vehicle tech and connectivity is what that segment is looking and asking for in their vehicle purchases...why focus on or cater to an aging boomer demo and their dated AM/FM technology?...auto manufacturers like to have uniform platforms they can affix to as many models as possible so a modern, connected and universal infotainment system that can by plugged into many models works best and is most affordable to them...if the media organizations that own those AM/FM stations/frequencies are turning their backs on them, why should auto companies include it if the next generation buying their cars care less and less about the availability of AM/FM bands/radios in their cars?
 

Pretty simple really...what percentage of 18 to 35 year olds tune into AM (or even FM for that matter) in their vehicles?....even satellite radio is starting to take a pronounced hit....the auto guys know this...younger generations want to make sure Apple Car Play and Google Assistant and in-vehicle Wi-Fi and other connectivity tech are available in their new vehicles before an AM/FM/Satellite radio...that ancient shyt is for their moms and dads and boomer grandparents and it is slowly dying with them.

Women's pro sports is certainly seeing its renaissance...Caitlin Clark opening up the WNBA to folks that never cared or watched it before...new pro hockey league (PWHL) with TV rights and now this...I'm interested to see how this all plays out 10 years from now...is it a fad or will the fans, advertisers and TV still be around...but most importantly will everyone be making money....the WNBA has been around for almost 30 years but it is supported financially by the NBA...my bet is if that NBA support suddenly vanished the WNBA would be in deep trouble...ditto for the PWHL where the entire league and every team in it is owned and supported by one man, billionaire Mark Walter, who happens to also own the L.A. Dodgers of MLB and Chelsea of the English Premier League...if he ever gets tired of losing money you'd likely be saying goodbye to the PWHL too.
