Tom Brown... but man I miss Dave Devall.

Couldn't stand Tom Brown, but I do stand corrected.

I agree with Walter, but I also fear that one of these days the person buying the spots will figure out how to get the ad to air at the exact same time on both NT 1010 and AM 640 so it can't be escaped from!!
Perhaps same with 680 & Fan
Wouldn't THAT be annoying? lol

Nightmare scenario!

I'm grateful for any live radio that's not paid advertising on weekends, so I do listen to the 640 morning show.  Mulroney is okay, when he's there, but I find the show is generally aimed at women.  Female entrepreneurs, entertainers, child care experts, workplace consultants, women's lifestyle 'influencers' etc.  I really don't need to hear another guest giving advice on how to negotiate the terrible two's or to get your teen off social media.

While it's safe to say almost nothing can beat those annoying Spence Diamonds spots (shouldn't Fiona be heading home by now? Talk about overstaying your welcome), there's a new spot airing on Toronto radio that could challenge that crown.

It's the one from Belair Insurance where a guy is trying to talk someone in a car into parking. "A little more, a little more," it starts, before the vehicle crashes and we hear "a little less." It's not that it's such an aggravating commercial. It's just that it airs on every single break on every single radio station.

So far, I've heard it endlessly on CFRB, AM640, 680 News and The Fan 590 during every Blue Jays game spot break.

I get it that repetition is key to getting a message across in the ad biz and I suppose it's succeeded because I know the sponsor's name. But really, every single commercial break? It must air hundreds of times per day. I don't listen much to FM, but I can only presume it turns up on there non-stop, as well.

I hope it's a quick campaign, running for only a few weeks, since it's already gotten on my nerves. Because when it comes to this particular message I'd like to hear it "a little less."

Belair?  Is that who it's for?  I tune it out so quickly, I had no idea.  The other insurance ad I can't stand is the one for Desjardin , with the droning singing of "I'll Be By Your Side".  The TV spots with the giant wandering around town solving people's problems is just as bad.  Nothing is in the same category as Spence, though, when it comes to awful advertising.

I wouldn't watch 'Law & Order Toronto' if you paid me.  Well, unless it was $400 cash.  I would watch it for $400 cash, if you also covered my monthly streaming fee, and supplied snacks and beverages.  Per episode.

I gently disagree on this one. Calling it a targeted shooting makes it different from the person being an innocent bystander or the victim of mistaken identity.

I guess, but hitting an innocent bystander just means the perp was a lousy shot and missed the person he was targeting in the first place.  There is always a 'target'.

Just when I was hoping to stay away from politics, comes a political story that deserves mention here, offered without comment: the federal government's budget, released on Tuesday, is upping the budget for the CBC, adding an extra $42 million for news and entertainment programming. Worth noting, it's a one-time only increase.

The Corp. already receives $1.3 billion from the feds.

The Corp is the only friend JT has left, other than the Toronto Star, which is on its last legs.

I watched all those shows, but they weren't exactly classified as 'kid's' TV.  Even the Flintstones was aimed at an older audience, and aired in the evening programming, before going into endless reruns, where most kids were exposed to it.

Like others, I do enjoy Mulcair as a guest.  He's sharp, and doesn't just pound on the party drum like that liberal hack Scott Reid.  I like Korski, too.  Then again, I always looked forward to hearing Lord Black on Oakley until he was gassed, and replaced by Frank Stronach, struggling with the English language while promoting his organic restaurant.  Thankfully, he is long gone as well.

Long commercial breaks on TV annoy me much more than on radio.  On CFRB if they are broken up with a feature like traffic or weather doesn't bother me as much.  Often, especially during a talk show, the commercial break gives me a chance to check out to see what the other talkers are doing.  AM is not as bad as FM with the stations playing ads at the same time.

Roy Green annoys me a bit since he is constantly referring to how much time he has left with a guest or segment and his show isn't especially jammed with ads.  He wastes too much time getting to the guest or giving a long backgrounder prior to introducting the topic and guest.  You don't need to go into great detail about the carbon tax everytime Premier Moe from Saskatchewan is on your program.  The Premier seems to either have just been on Roy's show, or coming up whenever I tune the program in.

Aaron, what do you mean that they are cashing out?  Is Bell trying to unload 1010?  If so, I could see the station taken over by an ethnic broadcaster.

"HAMAS 1010:  All Terror All The Time!"  Wouldn't surprise me in this city.

I'll give Agnew credit.  He does seem to work hard at making the game interesting, and is enthusiastic at his job.  The problem is the contestants, who are usually dumber than a bag of rocks, and know nothing about even some of the easiest questions, all for a 5 dollar Tim's gift card or something.  That alone makes it a frustrating and un-listenable show.

In other words, never?  How depressing for Toronto baseball fans.

He may have a background in comedy, but by far the worst offender is the otherwise good John Oakley.  He and his unofficial co-host spend most of the first hour laughing out loud at each other's stand-up shtick.  It wouldn't be so bad if it was actually funny, and didn't sound so forced.

The ad aired at about 5.58 p.m. eastern time.

Not funny to me. Kids easily viewing and listening at that hour. How f*cking low can we go?

While defending Trudeau and his hated carbon tax increase this morning, John Moore said "No one can deny that the carbon tax works".  It does?  How so?  What evidence is there that taking more money out of Canadians' pockets does anything to fight 'pollution'?  He also parroted the official party line that people get more back in rebates than they pay out, which is utter bunk when everything is taken into account.  Is he auditioning for a job with the Grits when he moves on from hosting a sinking radio show?

As if pro football wasn't interrupting things enough on TV during its regular season (I make no secret I'm not a fan of the league,) the NFL has revealed it's planning to broadcast not one, but two games on Dec. 25th.

Previously, Christmas has been mostly the domain of the NBA and there are few other pro sports in action on what is arguably the biggest holiday of the year. Even more bizarre, they've decided that the teams that play on Dec. 21st, just four days earlier, will be back on the field Dec. 25th.

I can only wonder how many Xmas meals this is going to ruin and how many fans will still be willing to go see grandma on the holiday.

NFL forces the issue with massive decision to broadcast multiple games on Christmas Day

It won't ruin any Christmas day plans, unless you let it.  Did all the NBA games ruin Christmas?  Not for anybody with any kind of life.
