I'm listening to NY The Sprit tonight but assume it's not a viable business model for you. Have you found an optimal local radio business model to serve your towns that would work these days?

I remember in KW hearing WDCX coming in quite well especially during Tropo conditions and that was before The Bounce had moved to 99.5. Bringing an HD station to KW by Bell was a necessity only to cancel out the much more powerful American station's HD signal.

This response is simple, I think the CRTC should just stick to radio, TV & telecom, as they have, based on the legislation & regulations they've been tasked to regulate/enforce. The CRTC has become less relevant with time and in the next few years should be obsolete. Bill C11 is messy, intrusive & unwelcome CRTC expansion of jurisdiction to Canadian online content providers and likely unenforceable when it's so easy to find and connect to a VPN service and server outside Canada to get the online content you want whether in Canada or outside. I'm happy that the Senate, the house of maybe deeper sober thought, have so far not passed this legislation to Royal Assent.

The Ottawa southern Quebec hits/non-hits decision from the CRTC really demonstrates how ill equipped the CRTC is and irrelevant in 2022/2023.

I remain concerned that Ottawa wants to regulate Canadian online stations much like they've regulated our am & fm stations over the past decades in the next few years ahead.

When it comes to the career path after education, whether college or university, the strategy to land a job with our young folks today for the most part is lost on me now. I think most of them will know enough to be able to navigate it with the tech.

I agree RadioAaron as this station with its limited signal will probably barely register in the radio ratings, unless it get's a signal on Mt. Seymour.

I can, by in large, no longer listen commercial rock/classic rock radio and the endless commercial breaks and very narrow and repetitive playlists, especially with the CanCon requirements in Canada, major music burnout for me. I do, more so, enjoy the USA public stations doing AAA with knowledgeable hosts, and I gather, human curated content, as they advertise.

My guess would be that Stingray will go for the "Station to relax after a stressful day, The Breeze" branding and soothing music mix on Valentines Day in Toronto.

I do enjoy CKWR's approach to AAA which is 80s based and plays the 90s and a few current tunes as "Waterloo Region's Adult Alternative". It's like a high school and university revival for me and a joy to listen to. Not much commercial spots to interrupt the music when I tune in.

It was a quiet and sleepy format my parents enjoyed. By today's standards, CHAY, CFCA were great personality, information and music stations in the past. I think CKOT in Tillsonburg hung on to this format on radio the longest.

Hi folks. I'm uneasy with this panel's report and recommendations. It seems to carry on the status quo of the last 30 or so years of broadcasting and support the broadcasting establishment we have. It looks like with this panel's recommendations, the TV & streaming we get will be more regulated and costly to all Canadians when we pay for our TV services bills.

For me, from where I grew up (in KW), it was CKOC which had the best signal in our parts and proudly proclaimed, the triple most listened to station of the next Hammer radio station. I recall CKOC had to null their nighttime signal to KW. Back at the time, my parents got me a GE Super Radio and recall picking up top 40 from KFI LA at night.

The US with their regulations have a hang up with the F-word in broadcasting on radio. It doesn't matter when it comes to the gratuitous violence and language readily available elsewhere.

I saw this in Vancouver a couple days back. Our current municipal TV election was only covered by one channel. Kudos to that channel. Everybody else stuck with their scheduled programming and HNC at CBC. No wonder why the municipal vote turnout is so dismal and unlikely to get better with our licensed broadcasters.

They play a lot of music as a Peel branded news and talk station. Hopefully, their talk programming will be a compelling reason to listen to 960 am in Mississauga. I cannot help but think the business plan for this station isn't viable in the longer term and this station will unceremoniously cease in the next 2 to 4 years. In the meantime, I'm enjoying their music but that won't pay the bills on the am dial.

Thank you for sharing this link. I remember this station being a great listen in the 1970s, especially at nighttime. I like that you folks at this station are including deep cut oldies in the stream.

You might be hearing more of CKKW if the CRTC grants their signal upgrade request. Many years ago, I remember this station fading out by Guelph in the car, only 15 or so miles away from KW, by WDCX.
