You've probably never heard of "Catchy Comedy," a digital antenna-only TV service that - as its name implies - only airs old sitcom reruns. (It airs locally on the low power Channel 67 cluster from Buffalo that most of us can't get.) It's pretty standard stuff, but this week, those behind the network came up with an absolutely great promotion that made me smile.
They've decided to re-create perhaps the most famous TV line-up in history: CBS' Saturday 70s schedule that critics believe may have been the best overall night of television in the history of the medium. Beginning in January, the Catchy Comedy crowd is bringing back CBS's line-up of "All In The Family," followed by "M*A*S*H," "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "The Bob Newhart Show," by the rounded out by the hour-long "Carol Burnett Show."
It was a truly amazing schedule back in the day and if all you have to show are reruns, it's a pretty good way to package them. And it can run that way for years, since each show has hundreds of episodes. Also pretty amazing considering Saturday night is now considered a TV wasteland and the networks barely program it.
Wish we could see it here.

They are also running Sledgehammer and Police Squad at Midnight and 1AM.

The television version of Police Squad! is pound-for-pound funnier than the movies could ever hope to be.
Sledge Hammer! was also great.
