Last Surviving Member Of The "Mod Squad" Is Gone

They were icons of their times - the Mod Squad, about three young hippies co-opted to work for a police department. The show ran on ABC from 1968 to 1973, and made stars of Peggy Lipton, Clarence Williams III and Michael Cole.

The former stars died in 2019 and 2021, and now Michael Cole has joined them. He played Pete Cochrane on the show for its full run, and was the last surviving member of the cast.

He died from an undisclosed cause. He was 84.

For its first four seasons, ABC ran the series Tuesday nights at 7;30. I never missed an episode.

I thought that “Linc” played by Clarence Williams was the cool one! The 1990s movie was disappointing, even with Claire Danes. Michael Cole had a good run, R.I.P.
