Who Sang The Iconic Gilligan's Island Theme Song?

It was actually two different groups in different seasons, although neither had much of a musical career after their moment in the Island sun.

I have heard the scrapped Gilligan's Island theme. To say it is terrible would be a vast understatement.

Indeed, it never made it past the pilot. Producer Sherwood Schwartz liked the entire premise to be explained in the title theme, so the one we all know is a lot better.

And of course, who can forget "Something's Wrong with Gilligan's Island" by the Canadian comedy troupe, The Vestibules. It featured such classic lyrics as:

"Ginger is 500 feet high!
She's made entirely out of zinc!
I don't remember her being that way in the first season."

And:

"There are seven Gilligans
All of various shapes and sizes
Five of them look like Morley Safer"

I prefer the spoof Stairway to Gilligan's Island.
Funniest mashup.

That original theme song clocked in at almost two minutes!  That would never happen today. Many current series have abandoned the practice to squeeze a few more ads in. NBC's Chicago Wednesday is a perfect example.
